Spending Plan (1€ = $0.91)Day-to-day expensesThere’s a lot to experience while travelingabroad, which is why we recommendbudgeting $40 to $60 in spending moneyfor each day overseas. That amount shouldcover shopping, eating and the rest of yourday-to-day expenses, but keep in mindthat it is enough on average. If you’re aparticularly talented shopper, you may wishto budget more.Optional excursionsYou’ll have free time on your trip to makeyour time abroad truly your own. If you’rethe type that likes to explore, the optional excursions offered as a part of this year’s program offer quaint looks into the country-sides of the Netherlands and Denmark. They require booking before you leave the states but may be booked on the spot andmust be paid for in cash.

TippingMoney for tips should also be built into yourBudget but separately to ensure you canthank your on-tour staff without cutting intoyour basic travel funds. EF suggests thefollowing amounts, in local currency:- $6 per day for the Tour Director- $3 per day for the coach driver- $1-2 per day for local guidesCurrency exchangeDenmark remains on the Krone (1DKK=$0.14)Cash can be exchanged for local currency at anumber of locations on tour, includingairports, exchange bureaus, banks andmore. In many cases, ATM withdrawalsoffer the lowest rates, but be sure to check inwith your bank and let them know you’llbe traveling overseas and to make sureyour ATM card will work abroad. Many major U.S. banks haveATM partnerships with other global bankswhich allow you to withdraw cash and skipout on the ATM fees. Check with your bank.
