• The course is open to Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors.

• This class is actually 2 classes: CDAE 171 , Community & International Economic Transformation (3 cr) and CDAE 195I, Prep for Peru, (1 cr). You must enrolls for both of these classes (in other words, you will be enrolling for a total of 4 credits). The CRN for CDAE 171 is 11876 and the CRN for CDAE 195I is 15246.

• CDAE 195I is the prep class. It meets once a week during the Spring semester, from 6-8:30 PM on Tuesdays.

• CDAE 171 includes travel to Peru in May. You register for these credits in the Spring semester

• Peru Travel Dates: May 12 to May 22nd (dates may change by 1 day). May 12th

is the last day of exams and may require instructor permission to reschedule an exam given that day.

• There is a $2,500 program fee. This includes your airfare, food and lodging in Peru (not airport food), entry to archeological sites, and ground transportation in Peru.

• Spanish is not a requirement. Knowing Spanish, along with others skills such as coursework in research methods, are useful. Translators will accompany the course.

• The course includes light hiking and walking at high enough elevations that students are likely to experience the effects of altitude. The highest altitudes are in the City of Cusco, which is over 11,000 feet above sea level.

• Grades for CDAE 171 will be entered after you return from Peru. For graduating seniors you will get a “placeholder” grade so that you can graduate. This will be amended after you return from Peru.

• There is a short application process to enroll. If you are still interested after reading this course overview, let me know and I will send you the application materials.
