VISION FOR TRAVIS COUNTY

Travis Countys vision for the county is one of an open, diverse community where all people are safe and healthy and can fulfill their hopes and dreams; where people enjoy a good quality of life and natural and cultural resources are protected for us and the future generations.

Introduction

As a Conservation Coordinator for Travis County in Austin Texas. In my position I am is responsible for recycling material generated from the counties operational activities that is no longer useful to the county. These materials are collected, sorted and then processed by various vendors who convert the commodities into raw materials and used in the production of new products.

Every day, Travis County citizens utilize an incredible amount of resources at work, at play and at home. And we not only pay for these items new, we also pay for the disposal and/or recycling of the items after use. I have realized it is not enough to recycle.

We think about these material before you use them. We need to be better stewards of our workplaces, homes and planet
