social workers work with a variety of groups such as Treatment Groups and Psycho-educational Groups these group help individual to solve problems and accomplish their desire in some form.

What is a Group

A group is number of individuals or things considered together because of similarities: a small group of supporters in a community club.

Treatment Groups

According to Kirst-Ashman (2009), treatment groups are groups that help individuals to solve personal problems, change behaviours, cope with stress, and improve quality of life.

Therapy Groups These are groups that help member with serious psychological and emotional problems to change their behaviours.

Purpose of Psycho-educational Group

The major purpose of psycho educational groups is expansion of awareness about the behavioural, medical, and psychological consequences of substance abuse. Another prime goal is to motivate the client to enter the recovery stage.

Treatment and Psycho-educational Group are group that speak to the mezzo practice in social work this highlight the definition of the social work profession stated by National Association of Social Workers which states "Social work is a profession concerned with helping individuals, families, groups and communities to enhance their individual and collective well-being etc.
