TREATY OF VERSAILLES
Met to discuss the punishment of Germany and where they're from.
• Woodrow Wilson of the U.S.
• Lloyd George of England
• Clemenceau of France
WOODROW WILSON'S VIEW
Wilson wanted a treaty based on his 14 point plan that he thought would bring peace.
GEORGES CLEMENCEAU VIEW
Clemenceau wanted to make Germany suffer, and made the Treaty of Versailles. This treaty was more
harsh than Wilson's 14 point plan.
LLOYD GEORGE'S VIEWLloyd secretly agreed with Wilson, but knew that the
British public agreed with Clemenceau. He went along with the treaty.
German people were unhappy with the Treaty of Versailles because they thought it was harsh. Germany also couldn't afford to pay the prices of
the war.
This treaty helped the rise of Adolf Hitler because people were
dissatisfied with the government and voted to power a man who promised
to rip up the Treaty of Versailles.
