2017 Trempealeau County Fair July 20th—23rd

Hello Everyone!

Fall is here and as the days get shorter and the leaves begin to

change there are a lot of things to look forward to. This is the

time of year we often see potential new members visiting our clubs

to see what 4-H is all about. Think about planning a fun activity to

get to know and welcome these new families and help them to navi-

gate the process of getting started on their 4-H journey.

This is also the time of year to re-enroll if you are currently

in 4-H. We have had a lot of members re-enroll so far but we still

have a lot more left to sign back up. The official re-enrollment pe-

riod ends November 1st so take some time to log in and sign back

up as well as maybe taking a look at a new project or three for the

coming year. Enrollment will continue throughout the year but it

helps our 4-H programs a lot to have our members sign up by No-

vember 1st.

National 4-H week runs from October 2nd through the 8th.

Use this time to do something fun with your fellow 4-H members

and talk to people about your 4-H experiences.

I also highly encourage everyone to take a look at the trips

and awards section of the newsletter to see what you can do be-

yond your local club. There is a selection process for these trips

and awards and the county can often help with some of the costs

of these amazing opportunities.. The selection process includes an

in person interview with the Leaders’ Board on October 24th. If

you have never applied for a trip before we highly encourage you to

start off with the Wisconsin 4-H Youth Conference. This is a

great experience where you can meet and have fun with 4-Hers

from all across the state.

So get out and enjoy the fall, encourage your friends to give

4-H a try, and look into applying for a trip or award for next year!

Show.

October 2—8 is National 4H week

More than 6 million young people across the coun-

try today will celebrate National 4-H Week, an

annual celebration of 4-H during the first full

week of October. During National 4-H Week, 4-H will showcase the great things that 4-H offers

young people and highlights the incredible 4-H

youth in the community who work each day to

make a positive impact on the community.

What will your club do????

Talk to your club leaders and try something new!

The September meeting of the Silver Creek

Valley 4-H Club was called to order on September

11th at Whispering Pines. Roll call was taken and

there were sixteen members present. Treasurer’s

report was read and we had several checks to dis-

cuss, Brady Seiling moved to approve the treasur-

er’s report and Gavin Smikrud seconded, Treasur-

ers report was approved. Secretary’s report was

read, Melanie Robinson moved we approve the Sec-

retary’s report and Gavin Smikrud seconded, Sec-

retary’s report was approved. For new business we

had Re-enrollment for 4-H is now open at 4-H

Online. Also for new business we considered some

community service opportunities, such as making

baked goods for the police, Brandt Robinson moved

to table discussion on this option till the next

meeting and Michael Kreger seconded, the option

was tabled, also tabled was doing something for

the nursing home, and a food drive. Finally for new

business there was Christmas for kids Zachary

Kreger moved we donate a hundred dollars for two

kids and Jazzy Olson seconded. For old business

there was extending the record book deadline due

to some member s not completing theirs, Michael

Kreger moved to extend the deadline to next

meeting and Paige Brain seconded. Also for the

meeting we took a moment of silence for 9/11 and

the people who died that day. The next meeting

will be held on October 9th. Also next meeting per

bad weather it was decided to clean the exterior

of the town hall, to show our appreciation for being

able to use it for our meetings, Brandt Robinson

moved to do this and Brady Seiling seconded. Sier-

ra Brain moved to adjourn and Natasha Kreger se-

conded. Meeting was adjourned. before and after

the meeting we enjoyed swimming, ice cream, and

fellowship.

Charter

One of the most critical things 4-H does is to provide educational opportunities to young people. As we begin our new 4-H year each club will need to develop on educational plan for the next year to include with their charter (a form that shows your club is meeting all 4-H requirements).

4-H Clubs must have an educational mission. Evidence can be provided in different ways. The preferred

method is for clubs to develop a program plan with their members, and provide a written copy of that

plan to the members and the UW-Extension Office through the annual 4-H Charter renewal process.

In order to help your club develop this plan at your next meeting here are some ideas that your club

can think about to help the planning process.

1. Start planning with the end goal in mind. Try to visualize your perfect club learning environment.

What do you want from your club? How would you like to learn? What would you like to learn?

How can you make this vision a reality? (Example: We will interact more as a club by having each mem-

ber try two new projects this year and have them report every three months on their progress at reg-

ular club meetings)

2. Come up with a group goal or several goals.

The best way to do this is to make SMART goals. This means that as you try to think about

goals you want to reach make sure they are:

3. Identify your resources. Make a list of who you have in your club or community that can help you

reach your goals and what materials you have or need to make this goal realistic (For example: If

you want more hands on projects think about people who can teach craft projects or who have

farms or workshops you can tour.)

4. Create a list of activities or programs that will meet your groups goals. Come up with a time

frame for these activities throughout the next year and assign individuals to work on and track the progress each.

Your goals should not be too easy (learn one new thing this

year) or too difficult (we will all be brain surgeons).

Make sure you are able to measure your progress (every

member will complete a record book and complete three new

projects this year)

Think about it like a new skill. You don’t go to band or sports

practice each day saying I want to be a better player/

performer. You work on specific skills that make you better

Sunday, October 30th 2p.m. to 6p.m.

ATTENTION ALL 4-H CLUBS: Come and put on your best costumes and join the

Leader’s Board and Ambassadors at the Trempealeau County 4-H Halloween Party!

There will be games, a costume contest, hayrides, and of course, delicious treats!

Please bring a spooky treat to share, IF you dare...

Pizza, Chips and drinks will be provided

Dress warm this an outside/barn event

Hayrides will be 3p.m. to 5pm

Costume Judging will be at 4pm

Disc, Plaques & Nameplates

We are using a different company for the disc, plaques and nameplates this year.

There are a few changes:

The plaques are available in plastic or aluminum. The plastic plaques will be white and en-

graved in green lettering and the aluminum plaques will be green and engraved in white let-

tering.

The discs will be plastic with an adhesive backing and the design will be laser engraved (NO

CHANGES IN DISC DESIGNS).

The nameplates will be the same.

Please use the online disc catalog to order your discs. Disc orders will be due November 30th

Clover College is THE perfect chance for you to meet awesome new people, make cool arts and crafts, learn something new, and see all the possibilities 4-H has to offer!

This years Clover College will be held on November 12th at the Whitehall Elementary School

There will be no cost for general registration.

You can attend from 1-3 sessions (additional fees may apply) during the day and learn about a whole bunch of really awesome

(and useful) stuff! The event will last from 9am until 2pm and include three sessions

Session One: 9-10:15am Session Two: 10:20am-11:35pm Lunch: 11:35-12:05pm Whole Group Activity 12:05-12:25pm Session Three: 12:30-1:45pm

Plan to attend one session or spend the day. Bring along a friend! Community members (non 4-H members) and parents are ABSOLUTELY welcome to attend! Most sessions are open to members, leaders, and parents but may be geared towards differ-

ent ages based on the subject being taught.

You will get the chance to be a true artist by using paint brushes on a canvas to learn to paint birch trees! Bring an old shirt to cover up with. Want to learn to make your own beads? Like felt and wool and roving but have no clue what to do with them? Take this class. Pat Malone will teach you how to make a variety of beads with felt and wool roving. Be prepared to get wet and possibly sticky. Leave class with a variety of beads that you can use in a variety of projects. Please bring a bath towel to the workshop.

Sewing Project (2 sessions long) Instructor: Sandy Ravnum Grades: Any (See Below) Class Size: 10 Fee: $2.00 Learn to sew this table decoration and get ready for the holiday season. You will need your sewing machine, a sewing scissor, white thread, and extension cord. To take this class you will need to know how to thread your sewing machine or be accompanied by an adult who knows the machine. All machines are differ-ent. Need to have done some basic straight line sewing. Fun project for home or for gifts. Soil and Critters!

Instructor: Steve Okonek Grades: 1st and Up Class Size: 10 Fee: None You get the chance to learn all about digging in the soil and then you get to be a scientist and use a real microscope to see all the little critters that are living right under your feet! All About Electronics!

Instructor: Amanda Hegge Grades: Any Class Size: 12 Fee: None

Come learn about electronics and build your own gadget that lights up, buzzes and spins! We will use something called Little Bits , which are like electronic Legos, to explore electricity and power!

This course is required for any new 4-H volunteer and will cover all mandatory trainings and is a great way to learn all about 4-H as an adult!

Come learn how to decorate a cupcake from the experts at Sweet Tempta-tions. There will be a demonstration and then hands on decorating!

Big, Bad, Wooly Beads Sewing Project

Drawing class

Instructor: Sue Byom Grades: 3rd grade to 8th grade Class Size 12 Fee:$1.00

A drawing lesson focusing on shading. I would set up a Still Life with a light source to create some dramatic lighting and really look at the different values found and recreate them with pencil.

Introduction to Broadcasting

Instructor: John Kelly Grades: 5th grade and up Class Size: 6 Fee: none

Learn the basics behind broadcast; operate a studio cameral or try giving a weather forecast. Basic shot composition will be covered.

Location: Meet in front of elevator on 1st floor of courthouse (youth must get to courthouse).

Woodworking Project

Instructor: John Jones Grade: 1st-5th Class Size :10-20 Fee: $5.00

Learn how to make a useful garden/tool box out of wood. You will be using hammers and nails to make something useful and cool!

Project Animal Workshop

Instructor: Steve Okonek Grades: 3rd and Up Class Size: 15 Fee: None

We will be discussing choosing a project animal. This will include pen size, feed and water consumption at various ages, and how to plan ahead.

Copper Tooling Christmas Ornaments

Instructor: Sue Byom Grades: K-5th Class Size: 12 Fee: $2.00

Learn how to make small Copper Tooling Christmas Ornaments! You will learn about Repousse and Chasing (pushing a design in from the front and the back of the metal to create a Low Relief). Then we would use colorful sharpies to add color and tie ribbons on them!

Big, Bad, Wooly Bangles

Instructor: Pat Malone Grades: 4th and up Class Size: 10 Fee: $10.00

A hot jewelry trend is using wool or felted beads to create bracelets, necklaces, or earrings. That's simple enough, but have you thought about altering your wooly beads first? This class will teach you some techniques to add bling to your wool beads and demonstrate some simple beading techniques. Participants will leave with wool beads, at least one decorated bead, and a bracelet or pair of earrings.

Making Lanyards and Key Chains

Instructor: Sandy Ravnum Grades: Any Class Size: Any Fee: $2.00 Making Cloth or ribbon lanyards and key chains. Learn to make lanyards or key chains for name tags or car and house keys. Great gifts for Christmas.

Serious Science!

Instructor: Adam Trunzo Grades: Any Class Size: Any Fee: None

We have a bunch of hands-on science experiments to try out to learn about all sorts of cool stuff including how things move, what things are made out of, how chemicals react and a whole bunch more!

4-H State and National Trips Panel

Instructor: 4-H Ambassadors Grades: Any Class Size: Any Fee: None

Come learn about the different trips that you can take around Wisconsin, the United States, and around the world! This session will include a panel of 4-H youth who have attended trips who can tell you what to expect and why you should plan to go on a trip in the future!

“CHRISTMAS IS FOR KIDS”

It is our pleasure to once again offer the “Christmas is for Kids” Program to citizens of our community in need

of assistance to fulfill their children’s holiday dreams.

Trempealeau County citizens in need of gifts for their children, newborn to 15 years old,

may sign up starting, Monday, October 10, 2016, at the Sheriff’s Office (Courthouse, 1st floor)

Between the hours of 1pm-3pm

We require all request forms be turned into the Sheriff’s Office by: Friday, October 28, 2016 by 3pm

Friday, October 28, 2016, by 3:00pm is the FINAL day to sign up for this program.

In order for parents to submit their children’s names for this program,

they will need to come to the Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Office with the following information:

A current Picture ID of the parent requesting gifts

A current utility bill is preferred, or a piece of mail that reflects your current physical address in Trem-

pealeau County

A Social Security Card for each child or a Stamped Printout of Social Security information from your

local Social Security Office

If you have joint custody of the child/children, the parent who will have the child at Christmas should

apply and provide a letter from the other parent stating this.

A current phone number where you can be reached. If you do not have a phone, please list a number

where we can leave a message to get in touch with you.

Recipient names may be picked up at the Sheriff’s Office beginning Tuesday, November 1, 2016.

The gifts must then be returned to the Sheriff’s Office no later than

Wednesday, November 23, 2016.

Again, we ask that the gifts be newly purchased and come unwrapped with the initial tag affixed.

Donations of new wrapping paper and tape will be greatly appreciated.

*We ask that you please do not give used toys, clothes or wrapping paper

Advanced Space Camp

Depart Saturday, January 21st return Saturday, January 28th, 2017.

WHAT: A fun-filled educational week at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, AL. Partici-pants will complete an in depth science experience. They will be part of a 6 hour simulated Space Shuttle/Space Station mission, experience-training simulators, train as a pilot simulator or in a Micro-Gravity envi-ronment. They will tour the U.S. Space & Rocket Center and learn about becoming an astronaut. WHO: Enrolled 4-H members in good standing in their counties who are in 10th-12th grades may apply. This trip has a limited enrollment with a maximum of 32 students selected from the state. Up to two male and two female Adult Advisors will accompany the group of 32 youth on the trip. Applications are due September 1st,2016. WHEN: Youth and Adults will Travel to Huntsville, Alabama on Saturday, January 21st 2017. They will travel home on Saturday, January 28th. A mandatory teleconference orientation is scheduled for 7:00-8:15 pm., Thursday, November, 3rd, 2016 to discuss and transmit travel details. Details will also be provided in a confirmation letter sent out by September 30th. WHERE: U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama. Local travel points will be identified for members when enrollment is closed. The goal being to locate areas as near as possible to the students. Return sites will be the same. COST: We will be taking a Euro-Coach Bus. Tentative registration fees are approximately $1,300 depending on other transportation costs. Final fees will be confirmed and announced by September 30th. Only written cancellations will be accepted. No cancellations can be accepted and no refunds will be issued after November 1. Medical emergencies will be considered for partial refund on a case by case basis. Same-gender substitutions may be made until December 15. In the case of substitutions, applicant will be re-sponsible for reassignment fees unless other arrangements are made. A payment plan has been set up. $500 is due upon acceptance by October 10th. A second payment of $400 will be due November 10th. The third payment will be due December 10th for the balance of travel costs estimated to be $400. Washington DC?

Consider reserving spots on for the 4th Leadership Washington Focus experience.

About the trip:

Leadership Washington Focus (LWF) is a 4-H leadership program for youth currently in grades 6-8 (2016-17 school

year). The program will take place at the National 4-H Youth Conference Center, just 1 mile from the Washington,

D.C. border. For more than 50 years, thousands of 4-H’ers have participated in our high school program, Citizen-

ship Washington Focus and now we are happy to introduce its precursor for middle school 4-H’ers, LWF.

Middle school 4-H delegates will:

Build confidence in their ability to motivate and direct others in meaningful action

Practice effective communication with others through group discussion and public speaking

Work with others to create and accomplish goals

Develop an understanding of their own personal leadership style

Exchange ideas, practice respect, and form friendships with other 4-H’ersfrom across the nation.

Experience hands-on learning using the historical backdrop of Washington, D.C.

Some specifics:

Youth from any WI 4-H county are welcome.

Dates of travel July 16-21, 2017 (only one session will be offered next summer)

Reservation for seats are due no later than December 1st. Deposits will be due no later than January 15, 2017.

Total trip cost is approximately $1100 per youth participant and includes includes: Round-trip transporta-tion. Leadership Washington Focus program registration (includes lodging and meals at the 4-H Center), and some incidentals.

Travel will be by coach bus (Alternative travel may be considered depending on group size and cost)

Leader’s Board approved to offer applicants more media options to qualify

for awards and trips.

Application process steps:

Complete the Trempealeau County Award & Trip Application.

Complete two of the following media options to be considered for the trips and or awards

of your choice.

1) Complete a Member’s Evaluation Form available on the state 4-H website:

18th, 2016 to the Extension office. No late applications will be accepted after October 18th.

Personal Interviews will be conducted on Monday October 24th, 2016 at 6:30 pm at the Lead-

er’s Board Meeting in the Tremplo Room of the Trempealeau County Courthouse. If you are

not able to attend on October 24th, arrangements can be made for an alternative interview

time.

International Youth Exchange (More info at: http://wi4hinternational.org/ )

What is it? Every summer, more than 70 youth from 7 different countries spend one month with

Wisconsin host families. Some families even host for an entire school year. In addition Wisconsin

youth also have the chance to travel to and live in either Costa Rica, Japan, Finland, or South Korea

in 2017!

Who can participate? Host families must have a youth of the same age and gender as the ex-

change student.

When is it? July-August 2016

Where is it? Your home or around the world

Why should you participate? Hosting a young person from another country is a wonderful oppor-

tunity to expand your horizons, learn about another culture and develop lifelong friendships without

even leaving your home! Travelling to another country and immersing yourself in the local culture is

an experience few traveler are able to experience. You get to actually be a part of a family and a

community instead of just snapping pictures on a tour.

Trempealeau County Agricultural Society Inc., Board Meeting August 1, 2016 Fair Grounds - Galesville, WI

The Trempealeau County Agricultural Society board meeting was called to order at 8:08pm by President Dennis Frame. Members present: Sarah Henderson, Brad Goplin, Dennis Frame, Marilyn Whalen, Kellen Nelson, Dwight Quarne, Joel Halder-son, and Tim Byom. Guest present: Robin Smith-Weaver Robin Smith-Weaver complimented the board on doing such a great job with the fair and how much she and her family enjoy being a part of it. She shared some ideas on possible activities for the fair including different entertainment and demonstra-tions. She would be willing to help implement any of them if there is something that would work. She will send the board a list of her ideas.

The secretary’s report from July was emailed to members. The treasurer’s report was distributed and reviewed. Preliminary numbers show the gate up 366 people and $1996. There was discussion on what worked and what didn’t. There were many good comments about having the carnival back and the fairgrounds looking full. The carnival is willing to come back for the same cost as this year. There was discussion on some of the other entertainment cost for the tent and Thursday night and the possibility of cutting it back some. The antique appraiser will not be back. Committee Reports: No reports for this month OLD BUSINESS: Sarah mentioned that some of the judges were getting paid a straight fee rather than the set hourly rate. She was not aware that any policy had been changed by the state.

Kellen still needs 4 or 5 people to help with Ashley for the Arts.

Camper Fees: We need to develop a new policy for camping both for fair and non-fair events seeing we have updated our camping area.

Livestock Barn update: Dwight reported that they are discussing some other potential options besides a new barn. NEW BUSINESS: Dennis had been contacted by Cheryl Lambert about using part of the fairgrounds for a dog part. It was the consensus of the board that we really don’t have room for it.

Appreciation Dinner: After not having one for a few years we hosted one again in 2015. The attendance was not great, so we decided not to do it this year. Kellen moved to set the 2017 fair dates for July 20th -23rd. Brad seconded and the motion passed. Our next meeting will be October 10th at 8:00 pm at the Courthouse. Leaders’ Board The Leader’s Board is an the main support for the Trempealeau County 4-H Program. The main responsibilities of the Leader’s Board are:

To raise and manage funds generated from the 4-H Food Stand and the Plat Book Sales

Establish policies and procedures as needed

Approve funding request that support educational experience for 4H members and project groups

Explore new ideas that can benefit the Trempealeau County 4-H program

Who can be a Board Member?

Any adult interested in the Trempealeau County 4-H Program. This could be a parent, grandparent, com-munity member, club leader, or project leader. If you are not a certified 4-H Volunteer at this time, arrange-ments would be made to receive the training. The Leader’s Board also has 2 youth positions. The youth positions are open to high school aged 4-H members. How often does the Leader’s Board meet? The Leader’s Board meets once a month. This past year the group met on the 4th Monday of the Month at 6:30pm in the Tremplo Room in the Courthouse. The meeting date may change when the new board mem-bers are elected. During the year the group can take advantage of the conference call option to accommo-date the member’s schedules. How long are the terms? Two years. May not serve for more than two consecutive terms 1 year for Youth Terms. May not serve for more than two consecutive terms. What do I do if I want to become a Leader’s Board Member? Contact Adam Trunzo at the extension office. Attend the Leader’s Board Meeting in September in the Tremplo Room in the County Courthouse. Open positions

Pledges

Secretary Report- Adam emailed Wina's minutes to everyone to read before the meeting. Brian moved

to accept the minutes as written, Lori seconded, motion passed.

Treasurer Report-Charlie –Charlie expressed problems with all the trips checks. There were some peo-

ple who hadn't paid their extra money for seminars, some who had, etc. JoAnn will get together with

Charlie to help her figure it out.

Trip/Awards Presentations and Funding Requests:

Trip Reimbursement Bjorn Mortenson --His reimbursement was approved, will be sent after Charlie

and JoAnn get everything sorted out.

Cami Subra –-YC & CWF report--Cami talked about having a great time at 4-H & Youth Conference.

She will be applying to be on Art Team next year. Citizenship Washington Focus was so amazing,

they got to be in charge of a service learning project (loved it), worked on a bill, and it passed. She

learned more about government than she ever had in school, and the 4-H'ers really felt adult, the

way they were listened to and treated.

Educator’s Report

Online Record book options--Adam researched online record books. California has a good one. Texas

discontinued theirs. 4-H Online is currently developing an online record book, and they sent out

emails to educators asking if they would like that. The Board would like to see what they come up

with.

Feedback from Fair--The Fair went well. A suggestion: can we get the other youth groups (FFA,

Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts) in to do building monitoring? We also discussed the layout of Cloverbud/

Explorers and Youth Exhibits buildings. One example is shelves for mechanical science. Maybe the

Leaders' Board could make recommendations to the Fair Board as a group. Check back maybe Jan/

Feb (discuss options to "un4-H" the Fair, proportional to their participation).

Back to School night plan--Club leaders have been emailed asking for volunteers who can be at

school open houses.

Marketing materials--are here! Help yourselves.

Clover College--Classes are getting organized. Complete list will be in the October disPATCH.

Annual Leader Training--Two dates and places have been chosen.

New Charter Worksheets--They are now a fillable pdf. It will be much less work than in the past.

Will be going out to club leaders and will be on website next week.

Leaders’ Board Old Business:

Follow up on Banners--They look good! The banners weren't ready as promised in time for the fair,

so Charlie had to do a lot of work to make them hangable. Club name board did not get grommets,

but is mounted on the wall in the Farm Progress building. Other banners returned to Supreme

Graphics for edging and grommets, where they are right now. Charlie will photocopy the bill and

give to JoAnn to draft a request for a discount based on the quality of service. We still need a

State Fair banner made out of vinyl.

New Business:

Annual Leader Meeting (September Leaders' Board meeting)-- Adam will contact club and project

leaders to have a representative present, need to have a trust fund meeting at 6pm. Regular meet-

ing at 6:30pm. Leader's Association Meeting needs notice put out 30 days prior. (Adam will send out

notice.)

Ashley picnic @HS looking for volunteers--Clubs can earn $500 serving drinks, more for cleanup

slot. Rosa will get write-up from the picnic coordinator, and we can get it in the newsletter and out

to club leaders. This would be for next year, same weekend as Ashley for the Arts.

Amendment to Cloverbuds and Explorers--We will need to bring this up at the September meeting.

(age vs grade also needs clarification)

We should bring up the "4 meetings requirement to participate in the Fair" at the annual meeting.

Giving K-2nd grade fair exhibitors a gift certificate (tabled)--It was mentioned that they are al-

ready getting a free milkshake.

Discussion made about having gift certificates made for the food stand-- Adam will bring the main

points to Michelle to see if this is something the Extension office can take on. It may be too much

office work.

Review of the proposed budget – Discussion and amendments made to the budget (JoAnn can send

out digital copy).

Board members current standing: Charlie, Brianna and JoAnn are out, Brian 3 years left, Wina two

years left, Lori 3 years, Rosa 2 years, Jeanette 3 years (need a north and a south rep.). Cami is con-

sidering being youth rep.

Any other new business

Correspondence--We received Thank you's from Cody Dooley and Sawyer Smock. JoAnn read them

aloud.

Board members were asked to encourage others to join the Board.

Next meeting September 26th at 6:30pm in the Tremplo Room (preceded by trust fund meeting).

Adjournment--Brian moved to adjourn at 9:00. Brianna seconded, motion passed.

Leader’s Board Funding Request Process:

We are publishing the funding request information and form. With new people always coming into the 4

-H program, we want everyone aware of the process to request funds for 4-H camps, trips, and educa-

tional activities. This information can also be found on the Trempealeau County website. Please read

through at your convenience. Instructions-Funding Request Form

The Trempealeau County 4-H Leaders Executive Board includes money in their budget to help defray

some costs of 4-H educational trips or activities in which Trempealeau County 4-H members and lead-

ers participate. The amount the Association is able to contribute in a given year depends on the success

of fund raising efforts, the amounts spent in other budget areas, and the number of applicants and lev-

el of requests.

A “Funding Request Form” has been developed for use when an individual or group is requesting mone-

tary support. Only 4-H Sponsored Events will be considered for reimbursement. Use of the form will

provide a consistent, concise approach for obtaining information. Once the Committee engages in dis-

cussion relative to the request, the requestor may be asked to leave the meeting and will be notified by

phone or mail of the Committee’s decision.

The 4-H Leaders Executive Board will evaluate the request and the applicant is asked to follow the

guidelines listed below. Currently, the Leaders Executive Board meets every month except December.

The form should be completed and turned in to the Extension office prior to the Executive Board

meeting and prior to participation in the trip or activity.

Please answer all questions completely so your request receives full attention. Individuals that receive

over $100.00 for a single event are expected to make a live presentation/action center or visual display

at one or more of the following events: Performing Arts Festival, Clover College, County Fair and/or

Summer Picnic. We would like individuals who receive funding for State Teams or major award trips to

help encourage participation in these activities. Participants may be asked to present information about

their experience following the trip or activity. The cost of events not specifically sponsored or co-

sponsored by 4-H or the Trempealeau County 4-H Leaders Executive Board will not be reimbursed. A

general club leader's signature is required before sending in the request form to the extension office.
