CURRENT TRENDS

CURRENT TRENDS02

The mood is lively, commu-

nicative and gaily coloured

– strong colours in yellow

variations, turquoise blue,

coral red and grey nuances

characterise the image. A

unique, very personal world

is created through unusual

combinations of shape,

colour and material. Inspira-

tion is also taken from other

cultures and epochs.

This trend with its breezy,

light and refreshing effect

exhibits colours which are

clearly related to nature:

green and blue nuances

of various intensities are

combined with beige and

brown. Lemon yellow lends

a fresh, innovative character

to this ambiance. The clear

artistic style and the high

demand on design charac-

terise this world.

With its mainly pastel, aque-

ous colours plus rose red

and light blue, the soft, fem-

inine trend world embod-

ies a poetic, supernatural

world. It radiates a spiritual

calm. The gentle, emo-

tive character is reinforced

by resplendent, gleaming

surfaces. Plastics, glass,

metals and fabrics such as

tulle and satin match the

atmosphere.

A warm, enveloping, luxury,

but also extravagant style

characterises the trend

world consisting of berry

shades, brick-red and beige

nuances. Antique and

country styles express the

refl ection on established

values, tradition and origins.

The interplay with a mod-

ern, pure use of shapes and

a wide variety of materials

present a unique character.

TREND 2012 | 2013

Together with the Institute of International Trendscouting at the University of Applied Science and Art (HAWK) in Hildesheim, Caparol has designed

four new trend worlds for 2012 | 2013.

The colours have been developed anew and fi nely matched one to the other. They have been specially formulated for the high quality Caparol

interior paints, PremiumColor and PremiumClean, and can be mixed in other products for the surface design of interiors.

The colours of each trend world are captivating with ten balanced nuances and form an independent collection with intensive saturations and

subtle concealment, as well as elegant colours. From each world a multitude of trendy and consistent colour harmonies can be developed for

interior design.

A GLANCE BACK AT TRENDS

04 TREND 2009 | 2010 AND TREND 2006 | 2007

royal beige

»Royal Beige« cites the tasteful,

elegant atmosphere of English aristoc-

racy. Warm, masked colours radiate a

consciousness of style and class while

wood quietly crackles in the grate.

cosmic white

»Cosmic white« is the innovative world

of space which brings distant galaxies to

Earth. Cool, light-hearted and fl oating,

extensive objects take up position in

weightless lightness.

velvet affair

»Velvet Affair«, the romantic dream

world in diffuse, reserved colours

causes hearts to overfl ow. Here, you

can indulge yourself with playful shapes

and allow yourself to be taken astray

from the verdigris of past epochs into a

modern fairy tale.

Caparol deals causally with trends and developments in the fi eld of colour. In particular the ColorDesignStudio continually monitors

the current trends in room design and develops suitable colour combinations and surface techniques. As interest on colour trends

grew, Caparol decided, together with the Institute of International Trendscouting, to present the joint knowledge and results in the

Caparol trend collections.

In the 2009 | 2010 Trend Collection the colour ranges of the trend worlds are structured in tone-on-tone compositions. The more

subtle the colours, the more the surface gains in signifi cance. Many interesting effects and subtle features enchant the colours,

thereby enabling visual and haptic stimulation to take the limelight.

The 2006 | 2007 Trend is a colourful collection with high colour intensities. Each of the four trend worlds is a frenzy in colour and

is impressive due to strong contrasts, a mirror image of the “colourful” millennium phase.

Page 5: TREND 2012 | 2013 - Caparol · TREND 2012 | 2013. Together with the Institute of International Trendscouting at the University of Applied Science and Art (HAWK) in Hildesheim, Caparol

punky

»Punky« comes unexpectedly, surprisingly, self-willed,

urban and full of character. Everything is possible and

permitted. Filled with contrast and tension due to deep

dark blue, violet and sharp yellow, the trend world is com-

plemented by white-veiled olive green and bluish white.

east

Values of the highest signifi cance and tradition mix with

a whiff of refreshing yearning and remoteness. Classical

colour combinations between China and India, magenta/

green combinations or cloudy white in conjunction with

woody brown radiate naturalness, calm and poise.

fancy

»Fancy« is positive, experimental, full of character, quick,

fresh and high spirited. Due to the high colour intensi-

ties of orange, bright blue and pink combined with white

nuances stimulating, fresh spaces are generated, which

have a creative, open and visionary effect.

deluxe

»deluxe« is characterised by value, tradition, intended

slowness, the past and opulence. The statement

“An end to plainness” sums up the trend world very well.

Pure stylistic outlines representing grand royals decorate

the room through archaic colour combinations such as

red, dark brown, patinated white, gold and petrol.

THE MODERN WAY OF LIVING NATURALLY

A cool, light and airy oasis in the fl urry of today‘s routine.

“authentic_life” invites you to recuperate in your own four walls.

These walls display themselves in living surface structures and natural col-

our tones. Here, green is much more than just a colourful accent - green is an at-

titude to life. Those living here possess a healthy appreciation for their environment

and put their personal values in the hands of Nature. “authentic_life” is a modern

reinterpretation of originality with a high quality of life. The thoroughly styled design

ambience presents itself reduced with a view to the essential. Functional, rectilinear

living elements of natural materials represent sustainability and longevity.

With ArteTwin

surfaces can be designed

fl exibly to suit individual require-

ments. Due to the uneven interaction of

the paint coating and substrate a rich vari-

ety of contrasts is created which here have

the effect of subtle light refl ections in the

colour authentic_life 10.

A QUIET REBELLION AGAINST THE USUAL

Lovers of antiquarian rarities through to fl ea-market bargains and souve-

nirs from all over the world are always seeking extraordinary treasures. The

furnishing style of “re:urban” has a random effect and here refl ects the per-

sonal interpretation of enjoyment. Mixing is as desired; this also applies to

the combination of colour, material and structure. Friendly, saturated colours

and geometrical patterns in ethnic style bring to mind the most varied cul-

tures. Delicately, collectors‘ items are integrated into the overall picture as

living elements, thereby producing an individual character. “re:urban” stands

for openness and real joie de vivre and draws on a new form of sustainability

to counter consumption.

The painted surface of PremiumColor with

its variety of combinations can be widely

employed and offers space for its own de-

velopment. Due to the matt, monochrome

structure, colours clearly take the lime-

light and gain in intensity. A wall in Coral

red re:urban 1 or luminous Mustard yellow

re:urban 7 becomes an interesting eye-

catcher.

The geometrical ethnic pattern of Fantas-

ticFleece Lukida and the matt Deco-Lasur

offer free space for different associations.

Designs in the neutral grey nuance re:urban

4 can therefore also be supplemented

particularly well with culturally overarching

structures in a “mix-and-match” style.

sensuality

ENJOY WITH ALL THE SENSES

“sensual delight” is the spatial embodiment of sensual femininity.

Here, sensuality is an important experience between one‘s own body and its en-

vironment - and it adds its fascinating effects. Harmonious curves and fl owing shapes

transform into one another and swirl around any hardness in the room. Tender light re-

fl ections break up the light into pastel colour nuances on nebulous structures. Silky,

shimmering surfaces become tangible, caressing the overall picture and create a place

of untold sensual harmony and tranquillity. “sensual delight” puts the individual re-

quirements of the body, mind and spirit in the foreground according to tran-

quillity and harmony, enabling the everyday routine to be forgotten.

OF PRECIOUS RUST AND

MODERN HISTORY

The golden shine has vanished,

dignifi ed verdigris is noticeable on

the walls and the exquisite furniture

is a humorous reference to a long

past epoch. An interplay of illusion

and reality! “ExtraOrdinary” com-

bines charming modernity and rustic

history to give an overall work of art

and creates a timeless place with

a feel-good character. Impressive

surface techniques in colour nu-

ances of tarnished gold and verdigris

as well as ivory-coloured marble ef-

Colour block and brochure: Trend colours and harmonies

The colours of the four trend worlds are displayed in a handy colour block.

All colours have been developed anew. They are therefore not included in the

3D-System plus fans, but have also been coded to the LCH system.

Each trend shows ten colours which are each illustrated on one side over the

full area. In addition, fi ve colour harmonies are supplemented per trend:

They illustrate possible colour combinations in which the wood and carpets

(tretford) are integrated - a practical working aid for the holistic, time-related

design. All colours can be mixed for high quality interior paints using Color-

Express, including Indeko-plus, PremiumClean or PremiumColor, as well as

various decorative interior wall techniques.
