INTRODUCTION

Hi, I'm Michael Nurok and I want to congratulate you on downloading Trend Catcher

Indicators and Template.

This document will guide you through the installation process, which is fairly easy and

straight-forward.

It basically consists of copying the files into appropriate folders and restarting your

platform afterwards.

INSTALLATION

Step 1 – Extract the files from downloaded archive

First of all, locate the downloaded TrendCatcher.zip file on your hard drive. It is a zip

compressed file, which means it has several files inside.

To extract files from TrendCatcher.zip archive, simply right-click on the file and choose

"Extract Here" (or "Extract All" if you don't have WinZip installed).

After extracting all the files, you will see a new folder called "TrendCatcher" was created.

Open it and you will find three files there:

TrendCatcher.ex4 (main Trend Catcher indicator)

TrendCatcherMACD.ex4 (Trend Catcher MACD indicator)

TrendCatcher.tpl (template)

Step 2 – Open the MT4's Data folder

Opening your MT4's Data Folder is fairly easy:

You need to open your MT4 platform and go to File -> Open Data Folder

Step 3 – Copy the files

Now that the files are extracted and Data Folder is open, it's time to copy the files to

appropriate folders.

First, we'll copy the indicators.

Inside your Data Folder, you will see multiple subfolders. Open MQL4 folder, then

Indicators folder (that's inside MQL4 folder).

Select TrendCather.ex4 and TrendCatcherMACD.ex4 and copy them (or simply drag

and drop them) to the folder you just opened in previous step (Data

Folder\MQL4\Indicators). You can also copy them one by one.

Next, we'll copy the template.

Either open the Data Folder from your platform again or go back two steps from the

Indicators folder to get back to your main Data Folder.

There you will see a Templates folder. Copy TrendCatcher.tpl to your Templates folder.

Step 4 – Restart your MT4 Platform

In order for the indicators and template to be initialized, you need to close the platform

and open it again.

After that, simply open up a chart and apply TrendCatcher template by going to:

Charts -> Template -> TrendCatcher or by using the shortcut icon on the toolbar.

Your chart should look like this:

SETTING UP PUSH NOTIFICATIONS

Trend Catcher has a very useful feature of notifying you when the trade signal occurs

directly on your mobile phone. So, besides alerts on your desktop platform, you can

get notified on your phone, too. It works on Android and iPhone, and the setup process

is the same.

You will need:

MetaTrader 4 platform for your desktop computer

MetaTrader 4 Mobile

Step 1 - Find your “MetaQuotes ID” on your mobile

phone

The MetaQuotes ID is a unique code assigned to your device. On your mobile device,

download and open MetaTrader 4 mobile. Go to the Settings menu and scroll down

to the “Messages” header. You will see “MetaQuotes ID” and an 8-character code. This

is your unique ID that you will pair with your desktop MT4 platform.

Step 2 - Enter your MetaQuotes ID in your desktop

MT4

Open the MetaTrader 4 desktop platform. Go to Tools -> Options for the options menu.

Click on the “Notifications” tab.

1. Check the box “Enable Push Notifications.”

2. Enter your MetaQuotes ID in the text box.

Step 3: Test your connection

After you enter your MetaQuotes ID, click “Test.” This will generate a test message to

your mobile device. It will prompt you to check your journal. You can look in the

“Journal” tab of the terminal window to confirm the notification was sent. If set up

properly, you will receive a notification in your status bar and in the “Messages” area

of MT4 Mobile.

You are now ready to receive notifications on your mobile phone.

Step 4 – Enable Push notifications in Trend Catcher

In order for Trend Catcher to alert you via notifications on your mobile phone, you

must make sure you've enabled Push notifications on the indicator itself.

To open up the properties of your indicator, right-

click on the Trend Catcher arrow on the chart and

choose "TrendCatcher Properties".

You can also go to Charts -> Indicators List or

press CTRL + I to open the list of indicators on the

current chart: then select TrendCatcher and click

"Edit".

Once you've opened the properties window for Trend Catcher, select the "Inputs" tab,

scroll down to "UseNotification" property and select "True" from the drop-down menu

and click "OK".

Settings & Parameters

Here's the list of all parameters you can set when using Trend Catcher. However, we

strongly recommend to leave the settings for MACD, FastMA and SlowMA at their

default values, since those have been tested and proven to work.

To access the parameters list, as stated above:

You can either right click on the Trend Catcher arrow on the chart and choose

"TrendCatcher Properties…", or

You can go to the menu and select Charts -> Indicators List (or press CTRL+I). Then

from the Indicators List window select Trend Catcher and click "Edit".

One the Properties window is opened, select "Inputs" tab.

FastEMA Value for the MACD's Fast Exponential Moving Average

SlowEMA Value for the MACD's Slow Exponential Moving

Average

SignalEMA Value for the MACD's Signal Exponential Moving

FAST MOVING AVERAGE SETTINGS

PeriodFastMA Number of periods for the Fast Moving Average

ShiftFastMA Number of periods that the Fast Moving Average will

be shifted by

MethodFastMA Type of Moving Average (0 = Simple, 1 = Exponential,

2 = Smoothed, 3 = Linear-Weighted)

ApplyToFastMA Apply the Moving Average to: 0 = Price Close, 1 = Price

Open, 2 = Price High, 3 = Price Low

SLOW MOVING AVERAGE SETTINGS

PeriodSlowMA Number of periods for the Slow Moving Average

MethodSlowMA Number of periods that the Slow Moving Average will

be shifted by

MethodSlowEMA Type of Moving Average (0 = Simple, 1 = Exponential,

2 = Smoothed, 3 = Linear-Weighted)

ApplyToSlowMA Apply the Moving Average to: 0 = Price Close, 1 = Price

Open, 2 = Price High, 3 = Price Low

GENERAL SETTINGS

ShowBuys Set to True if you want to show Buy signals (arrows) on

the chart or False to hide them

ShowSells Set to True if you want to show Sell signals (arrows) on

the chart or False to hide them

UseAlert Set to True if you want a pop-up window alert when a

trade signal occurs

UseNotification Set to True if you want to receive a notification on your

phone when a signal occurs

SpacingMult Distance of the arrow from the price/candle

MaxBars

How many bars in history do you want Trend Catcher

to be applied to (set to 0 to use maximum possible

candles)
