Questions to consider

What format are you using the survey in? PDF, Indigo, Excel. Why?

Do you target a percentile or anything specific in your data

calculations and decisions?

Do you build payscales, if so how?

If not, what do you do with benchmarking from the data?

Have you got a global strategy in what way you use the

benchmarking data?

Do you look at more than just base pay?

Does your country team look at the data or just region/HQ?

Topical Discussion

©2011, Birches Group LLC

Local Terms & Conditions

Where is reward managed – locally vs regionally vs globally?

What pay approach do they take locally e.g. focus on base, total cash or total

reward?

How do you reward regional posts in comparison to fully country based

posts?

Do you have a minimum set of benefits for locally contracted staff?

Do they have local roles which are mobile within Africa and how do they

manage their pay?

What if any reward communication processes do they have in place?

Are there any plans to review benefits in country programmes, if yes what?

What trigger mechanisms do they use determine whether there need to be a

overall reward review in a country programme?

Do they struggle to find, recruit or retain staff in specific countries, if so

which countries?

Do they have a global reward strategy if so what is it?
