Executive OverviewAs the amount of data we generate explodes, so does the cost of managing it. The majority of this cost

is not storage, but active data management - replicating and backing up, archiving and retrieving.. And

unstructured data essentially increases “cost” by increasing backup time and decreasing recovery

reliability. How are organizations rising to the challenges of enterprise data storage?

This survey asks respondents to report:

▶ Does their data management plan give them a competitive advantage?

▶ How quickly is their data storage growing? Is it manageable?

▶ How much of their data is unstructured?

▶ Do they know what percentage of their enterprise data is “hot” – accessed in the past year?

▶ What would they like to improve about their data management process?

How would you define your data storage growth?

62% characterize their data storage growth as steady, but manageable; 24% say it is growing fast -presumably becoming more difficult to manage. 5% frankly admit it is getting out of control.
