    FROM THE EASTBrethren,

I have spoken a lot about the momentum andexcitement that we have been experiencing at

Morning Star Lodge25. We have a core ofofficers that are in the line for the first timeand whose average age is under 40. We haveRaised double digit Master Masons for 4 years ina row and each month we seem to keep reading atleast one petition for Degrees.

What is most exciting to me is the number of men

that are coming to events. For example, theStated meeting dinners have been moved to theballroom because we have outgrown the regulardining room. The last two months we have hadmore than 70 people enjoy one anothers company. On our last guys night out we had 20 men showup and had a great evening at the local pub. Todate, I do not have the numbers from the welcome

home Stated dinner, but Im confident it will bewell attended.

To those of you that have not attended Lodge ina while, you are missing out on the specialrelationships that have been built and continueto grow. We would like to see you come back toLodge. If you need a ride, we can pick you up.

Dont remember the signs, we can remind you.Dont have time, attend the Stated meeting only. Its only once a month. Come and find out whatyouve been missing. I look forward to seeingyou and welcoming you back.

    Fraternally,

    Jairo J. Gomez, Worshipful Master.

    STATE OF THE LODGE REPORT

    Brethren and Ladies,

It is again time for the annual State of the

Lodge report. We are very active and healthy. Our average age has again dropped if only a

little. Our average membership age has dropped

from 68 to 67. The average age of candidates

being Raised this year is 36.

We began 2009 with 300 Master Masons and

    ended 2009 with 296.

    We lost 11 to death.

    We lost 3 to withdrawal.

    We lost 6 to suspension.

    We performed 12 First Degrees.

    We performed 11 Second Degrees.

    We performed 9 Third Degrees.

    We gained 8 by Affiliation

We sold 4 new life memberships. (we now have

    41 living life members).

This year looks like it is going to be every bitas active as 2009 and your corps of officers is

up to the task. What is the growth attributed

to, you ask? (and why OUR Lodge instead of

others?) We are beginning an age when young

people are again asking for ways to improve

themselves and the world around them. Masonry

offers that and our Lodge in particular offers

some programs that actually get out into the

community and produce results. This, plus the

contagious good humor of our younger members.

    Respectfully submitted,

    John L. Baker, PM

    Secretary

Do you know the definition ofRSVP?

The French words are Repondez SilVous Plait which mean to reply asrequested.

The request Morning Star Lodge has

monthly is to RSVP to your intendedattendance at our Stated meetingdinners by the Tuesday prior to thedinner.

The request not only appears in theTrestleboard, but a telephone remindergoes out to about 100 of the members.(if you would like to be added to the

    FROM THE SOUTHBy Ken Belt

Brethren, welcome to Februarys edition of From the

South. As promised, this year I wanted to mix it

up a bit and do some restaurant reviews as well ascontinue the tradition of providing recipes from our

    Brothers for you to enjoy.

On the block for February is none other than

Country Boys Drive-in on E. Fremont Street here in

Stockton. Country Boys Drive-in is owned and

operated by our very own Adolph Egoroff and his

family. This truly is a family operation. On anygiven day you can usually find Adolph behind the

counter and his lovely wife busy in the kitchen and

on occasion, his son working right alongside him.

They purchased the business a short while ago and

have done a wonderful job of transforming a mediocre

burger stand into a traditional American eatery.

Their food can be best described as American

Comfort food. From their hearty and tasty breakfastselections including omelets and pancakes to the

more traditional lunch fare---burgers and fries. I

have personally had breakfast there many times and

can say that I always get excellent service and the

quality and quantity is right on par. While I have

not had the pleasure of enjoying a burger, it comes

to me from very reliable source (my wife), that

their burgers are worth their weight in beef and ifits a milkshake you are in the mood for, they have

too many flavors to mention. Overall the food is

good quality and the portions are just right. So if

you are in the neighborhood and are in the mood for

some good ol fashioned American cuisine, stop on by

and tell Adolph I sent you.

    UPDATE

    A REQUEST FOR HELP

Last month the Rental Manager of theStockton Masonic Temple asked for

donations from you, the members, family

and friends to purchase a commercial ice

    machine for our kitchen.

Not only is that piece of equipment a

good selling point for rentals, but all

of the Masonic family will be able to

utilize it. No more buying bags of ice!

Bro. Gilbert Gossett donated an elderly

ice machine which we have decided will be

used as a trade-in. We also received

    cash donations from three Brothers

bringing us up to a little less than half

of the $2,500 cost of the machine we plan

    on buying.

Anyone wishing to help complete the

project, please let the President of theTemple Association, John Baker know.

    From Stockton Rainbow

Stockton Rainbow hopes that everyone had

a great Bringing in the New Year.

In January, we initiated three new girls

friends as we could have a large

delegation of Stockton girls and adults

    at Grand Assembly. Congratulations to

Katie, Amy and Angela, we welcome you

    into the Assembly.

On January 30th, we held our Installation

of officers. Our new Worthy Advisor is

Lyndia Faihtinger and we know she will

serve the Assembly well and we will havea busy yet fun term. If you arent doing

anything on February 1st and 16th, come to

the Masonic Temple and meet our Rainbow

girls and adults. Our meetings begin at

7 pm. We would love to have you come to
