The Student Council-organised bake sale held on 28th November 2009 was a promising event to raise money for the Spring Fling scheduled later in the academic year.

The first thing that struck the eye was the management and organisation of the sale. Positioned below the upper patio and off the shaded lower patio, students and teachers were able to view the menu and items for sale overhead before coming down to get in line for their share. The queue was kept in line and headed in one direction due to the courtesy of the prefects on duty at the event, making sure that no one broke out of line or missed their turn.

The immediate success of the sale was, undoubtedly, the rolls, which were completely sold out by the first five minutes and had to be delivered again for lunch. Also on sale were a scrumptious display of home-made bakes, including brownies, cookies and cupcakes. Each council member was managing one section of the sale line; it prevented a great deal of confusion, and meant that most people were able to get what they wanted and move on.

One drawback was that at a point, especially at lunch, the line started to move a bit slowly, meaning those at the back of the line had to wait for quite a while before they could get to the food, and some even opted for the regular school lunch instead. Some people also complained about the increase in prices that occurred at lunch (such as the drinks, the price of which actually doubled). Another complaint was the lack of variety at the sale. However,

most people were satisfied by the hard-work, planning, organisation and effort that went into making the bake sale a success.

GO BOS!

On 17th of October, the 49th Sindh Junior Boys Championship was held at Karachi Gymkhana. It was a provincial tournament spanning over two days. Schools from all over the city had participated with their swim teams mostly constituting of more than 10 swimmers. Moreover, some schools like Habib Public had more than 20 swimmers, whereas our glorious swim team only consisted of 3 swimmers. The tournament started with a march around the perimeter of the pool, with schools holding their flags proudly. To our amazement, we caught a first glimpse of our school flag.

EXClUSIVE:

BOYS SCHOOL FOOTBALL TEAM TRYOUTS

After a tiring day of school, it was time for the football team tryouts. As boring as it sounds, it was surprisingly

Exciting; from highly energised shots and

Dashing saves to extremely painful injuries.

Approximately 21 students showed up for the tryouts, wearing their school P.E kit. It all began with everyone stretching on the floor, followed by a couple of laps around the hall. However, some pupils got tired by the 2nd lap, so they decided to cut around the bends and shorten their route. It was amusing to see the boys running around; it almost looked like a marching band, minus the instruments.

Soon after, the matches started and some players stood out with to their impeccable striking and defending skills. Benedict Plant being one of them, scored his teams first goal 30 seconds into the match, which is probably why he has been chosen to be the vice captain of the team. Playing in small teams, coach had one rule: careless kicks will cost you 10 push-ups. By the end of the first half, Omar Akbar was probably the most experienced player in doing push-

However, the most painful and unexpected incident occurred when Ammad Mekheri, got badly injured. Having been first tackled by Ali Rajpar and twisting his ankle, Ammad was rammed into by the goalie Haseeb Rao, adding insult to injury. Immediately, the other members rushed to his aid and it was later discovered that he had received a hairline fracture and was bedridden for a whole day. No worries, hes up and running again now.

The tryouts were certainly entertaining, and with that, our school team was chosen. Now all we have to do is cheer our team on to win us friendly matches and tournaments.

LETS GO B.O.S!

The Sheng Xiao, better known as the Chinese Zodiac, is a system that relates each year to an animal and its reputed attributes, according to a 12-year cycle.

Identifying this scheme using the term zodiac reflects several similarities to the western zodiac. Nevertheless, there are major differences: the Chinese 12-part cycle is divided into years rather than months.

Now that you know a little about the Chinese Zodiac, why not find out which you belong to according to your birth year? You may just learn something about your zodiac characteristics!

A young woman went to her doctor complaining of pain. "Where are you hurting?" asked the doctor. "You have to help me, I hurt all over, said the woman. "What do you mean, all over?" asked the doctor, "Be a little more specific." The woman touched her right knee with her index finger and yelled, "Ow, that hurts." Then she touched her left cheek and again yelled, "Ouch! That hurts, too!" Then she touched her right earlobe, "Ow, even THAT hurts!" she cried. The doctor looked at her thoughtfully for a moment, sighed then explained: "You have a broken finger."
