    Blind and Partially Sighted Athletes to Compete in Beaumont Triathlon July kicks off with Beaumont Triathlon in support of CNIB Alberta and Northwest

    Territories

    EDMONTON – On July 1, 2014, athletes will be swimming, biking and running at theBeaumont Triathlon in support of CNIB Alberta and Northwest Territories. Each year,more than 12,000 Albertans who are blind or partially sighted access essentialprograms and services that help them see beyond vision loss. Race participants havethe opportunity to seek pledges from friends and family.

    The event will feature triathletes who are blind or partially sighted. One team inparticular, the Golden Girls, is comprised of Viviane Forest and Carrie Anton, twoParalympic gold medalists, and Diane Bergeron, CNIB’s national director of governmentrelations and advocacy.

    "No matter how I do, I’ll cross the finish line with a smile on my face and anothertriathlon in my blood,” Diane commented. She is blind and has been competing in racesand half ironman competitions for two years.

     “Community support is vital to our organization’s success,” said John McDonald,executive director and regional vice-president for CNIB Alberta and NorthwestTerritories. “We greatly appreciate the support received from participating athletes andtheir pledges of support.”
