Have chickens and want to know how the judges at the fair decidea on the top bird or best eggs? Come to poultry judging practices and learn USDA standards in order to become a competitive judge yourself! Our practices culminate in a county competition on Thursday, Aug. 1 during fair week.

Want chickens but can't due to lack of space or just don't know where to start? Come to poultry judging practices and get hands-on experience handling live birds and eggs. Owning chickens is not required to come to practice or to compete! Juniors, Intermediates, and Seniors may have the opportunity to compete on the state level and Seniors may have the opportunity to compete nationally in Louisville, KY! Stop by at practice to learn more!

Don't like chickens but want to improve your overall confidence and public speaking skills? Yup, we can help with that, too! Come to practice where you'll learn to give oral reasons defending your decisions as a competitive judge. You might even learn to love chickens in the process. We welcome all ages from Clovers right up to Seniors. The more practice dates you attend, the more prepared you'll be for our competition on August 1st at 10am!

Here's the practice dates, all starting at 7pm and held in the Extension Office basement:

Fair Silent Auction—The CC 4-H/FFA Fair is looking for items for this year’s Silent Auction which is a great fundraising event to support the fair and the 4-H program. Children’s Day at the Fair

The fair will once again be hosting Children’s Day on Tuesday, July 30th, from 8:30 am to 2:30

pm and we need your help! In previous years, more than 1,100 children have attended this

event at the Carroll County Fair, and this success has been due to the participation of 4-H

clubs, members, and volunteers! As the fair plans to “Let the Good Times Grow,” we want to

make this the best year yet!

We are asking that clubs sign up for a make-it and take-it craft table or host games. When pre-

paring these games and crafts, we ask that you keep agriculture, farming, and 4-H in mind. Re-

member that these activities should engage our youth and encourage them to stay for the

day! We hope that your club will be able to participate in some way, as it will be a wonderful op-

portunity to promote and educate young children and their families about the great 4-H program

and agriculture here in Carroll County! To sign up for a make-it and take-it table, to volunteer,

or to provide donations, please follow this link: https://tinyurl.com/ChildrensDay2019.

If you or your club would like to help with Children’s Day, but cannot attend that day, we are al-

so looking for donations! You could provide a monetary donation, a donation for goodie bags,

or items such as face paints, crayons, etc. If you have any questions please contact Jenn

Hiscock at [email protected]

Friends of the Carroll County 4-H and FFA Fair,

The Carroll County 4-H and FFA will be holding their annual silent auction starting Saturday July 27th and closing at 8:00, 8:15, and 8:30 p.m.- Friday August 2, 2019, in the Shipley Arena. If you could make a donation to the auction to support our organization, it would be greatly appreciated. The fair gives more than 800 Carroll County Youth the opportunity to showcase more than 16,000 exhibits featuring agricultural, creative talents, leadership skills, baking, handyman, dog obedience, and many other areas. Our fair has been voted one of Carroll’s Best and draws tens-of-thousands of visitors each year to see the livestock and talented exhibitors, activities, contests, and enjoy the fun, food and entertainment.

Every year our fair grows! Not only are the 4-H and FFA programs growing but the area’s population is growing, and our attendance increases every year. It is the community support from organizations such as yours that helps us continue to be able to tell the story of 4-H and of farming and continues to provide this event each year to the public. Our expenses of operating the fair increase each year and we very much want to be able to continue giving premiums to our youth. Over the past 13 years we have made $143,464 which goes directly to the 4-H program.

If you would care to donate to our silent auction your contribution is tax deductible as the fair is a 501(c)(3) organization. Thank you for your support.
