Needless to say, Matric has been an exciting year. Kate’s said a little over a billion speeches and Justine stood by her side crying at almost every one. We watched the leadership team dance at the Matric dance much to our enjoyment and we all (al-most all) cried at Valedictory. Then we completed the year with our much dreaded

Matric final exams.

Consumer girls nurtured our comfort eating with their delicious bakes on a weekly basis. Art girls did little except complain about their due date for their final prac and

drama girls likewise. The syllabus doubled for geography girls while History had it easy choosing their essay topics just days before the exam. We’re yet to ask a French

girl to speak actual french and a Xhosa girl to repeat all the vocab learnt over the years.

Gatsby and Daisy led us into our final term arguing about them and if Nick was a reliable narrator. But Ms.Wyllie’s class was a bit behind still chatting

about real-life topics...

The Matric Dance came and went like a breeze with lots of photos that, just days after, clogged our poor facebook feeds. However, it was a night to remember

despite how time flew. Soon we were writing midyear exams and Bio girls were stressing yet again. The gap year girls booked their flights to England but some of us

were left to book only our applications into UCT, Rhodes, Stellies and others.

June marks surprised us and soon after we were studying again for mocks. We studied and studied and then took a break to go to Claremont and then carried on studying. Some of us had trouble getting in and some of us patiently waited until

we were 18. Nonetheless, lots of stress was relieved in tin roof sometimes on a biweekly basis.

Somewhere inbetween was silly week and valedictory - a week that will forever be lost under boys uniforms, careers, movie outfits, fairies, selfies and tears.

Then we wrote finals. Now, it’s difficult to remember how we coped in 3 hour exams - without water, some might add. Finals were followed by Plett Rage -

an unforgettable week for some but for others... completely forgettable.

Despite the results, we will all go on to find our place - it may be right here or it could be miles away from home. Our school years will always be the easiest, most carefree years of our lives but as we go on to face bigger things, we go on to face more excitement and unpredictable moments. We’ll turn into lawyers, bakers, art-

ists and engineers but we’ll always remember Springfield and Matric 2015 as we go onto achieve awesome things in the future.
