DANDRUFF

• Dandruff is excessive shedding of dead skin cells (flakes) from the scalp in faster rate and in larger quantities than normal

• These flakes get trapped with oil, clump together and become noticeable

• The exact causes of dandruff are not completely known but the latest research suggests that it may be caused by fungus

• This is most common type of dandruff

• In this white flakes are falling from the scalp

• Dry dandruff is recognizable by itchy scalp and small white colored scales

WAXY DANDRUFF

• The scientific name for this is Seborrheic dermatitis/Pyteriasis steatoides

• In this flakes are yellowish in color and has a greasy consistency

• This occurs when the dead scalp cells mix with sebum, the oil that is secreted by the oil gland

• The scales then clump to each other and stick to the scalp in patches , this is caused by excess activity of oil gland
