CIAPAsia-PacificInvestigations CenterThe Asia-Pacific Investigations Center (CIAP in Spanish) emerged on 2013 as an initiative of political scientists graduated from the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences of the University Rafael Landivar, it counts with the support of the Vice-Presidency of Investigation and Outreach, and the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences of the aforementioned University.

The Center works on the formulation of investigations in several topics, with the main goal of creating a new and particular knowledge from proper and associate’s investigators, who will benefit the deepening cognition of the Asia-Pacific region. As well, it promotes language learning, exchanges and scholarships as part of a cultural and social approach towards the Asia-Pacific region.

The aforesaid would be socialized through forums, conferences, seminars, national and international congresses and publications thay may allow to create networks and links with specialized centers on Asia-Pacific and Latin America.

Vision: to be the first national center and one of the firsts at regional level on studies, teaching and investigations in order to take advantage of the Asia-Pacific region’s potential.

Mission: to promote the understanding, studies and relationship with the Asia-Pacific region from the investigation and academic perspective.

GENERAL OBJECTIVE

To promote and implement projects and activities that help to increase a better approach and knowledge about the Asia-Pacific region among the different sectors of society, especially, on the institutional (national and local government), academics, private and cultural.

This region has emerged as a global actor of first order, due to its high level of production, science and technologies progress, telecommunication and innovation on the use of new energies resources, among others.

The Asia-Pacific region is composed of several countries that outstand due to

their leading economic development and technological progresses.

The region’s leadership promotes a frequent innovation, not only on regional structure but also globally

CIAP has established to prioritize five countries, considering the influence and engagement of these in Latin

America:
