Blue Mass at St. James

St. James in Zanesville will be offering a Blue Mass to honor the police officers and firefighters who gave

their lives in the line of duty. It will be similar to the services we had offered previously at Trinity. David

Schubach is helping to organize and coordinate it. It is scheduled for Sunday, September 13th at 4:00 PM at St.

James. All are invited.

The table below shows Trinity's operating income and expenses through

July 31, 2015. Negative numbers are shown in red. Our overall balance

for the year continues negative. Thus, we continue to operate with the

during discussions at the September 20 congregational meeting.

deficit budget as approved at the Annual Meeting. Critical point will come

ECW

Join us for our next meeting on September 9th at 10:00 AM. Lunch will be provided. ECW is serving a picnic-

style luncheon on Sept. 12th for the Research Club. There will be no soup luncheon in September as that is the

date for the meeting of the congregation regarding the budget, etc. We will be serving cookies only. Sign-up

sheets are on the bulletin board for the September luncheon.

Children’s Update

Peg Marbais is currently coordinating this program. Materials have been purchased which provide the lessons

each week; teachers are needed to share the load in presenting them. A sign-up sheet is posted in Simpson Hall

if you would like to help. Also, on the 2nd Sunday of each month, children will worship in church with their

parents.

Bullet Points for July Meeting:

Budget Update—Total revenue for June was $8,768.19 with expenses of $10,634.49 for a budget differ-

ence of -$1,866.30. The need to cut expenses and/or increase revenues continues as expenses continue to

be higher than revenue.

Capital Campaign—As of July 1st donations total $523,162 from 101 donors. Concerns were expressed

about reaching our goal of $600,000 (not counting the funds already expended). We will not be able to

meet the Standing Committee July 31st deadline for loan encumbrance and unless we can raise the money

needed to be granted encumbrance, we may need to delay the start of construction to a later date.

Project Construction Meeting—Chuck asked that any interested people join him in a meeting with Project

Construction. The meeting is to discuss the contract, and Gus Howarth will be asked to help with any legal

questions.

Marriage Policy—Fr. Dower discussed the email from Bishop Breidenthal with regard to the marriage pol-

icy in the Episcopal Church after the General Convention. Fr. Dower will be available at 9:15 AM on July

26th to answer any questions parishioners may have regarding marriage in the church.

Church Secretary/Bookkeeper—For the bookkeeping part of Eunice’s job, Baker, Baker & Haas will be

contacted to see if they will be able to fill in if there is a gap when Eunice leaves. With regard to the secre-

tary part, a temp service may be engaged.

A Parish meeting is scheduled for September 20th to discuss the budget and how are we going to get to the

end of the year without dipping into reserves. Since this is our regular soup Sunday, it was decided to

forego the soup and just have a light lunch as we did at the previous congregational meeting.

Memorial Garden Bricks—The memorial bricks have been ordered with a ship date of August 17. Vestry

approved a policy for the purchase of bricks and the ordering procedure.

Trinity Park—Terry Mooney has stepped down as the person in charge of the park. Andrea Eppley has tak-

en over that responsibility. Andrea and volunteers will be weeding and trimming on the first dry Saturday.

Kitchen Door—The new kitchen door installation is complete.

A person interested in the organist position has been identified, and Fr. Dower will contact him/her to see

if he/she is a fit with Trinity.

Repair of Sanctuary—Cathy Bagot and Robi Rhodes presented a second draft of the document regarding

encumbrance of Trinity that will be sent to the Diocese with the financial paperwork.

Community/Diocesan Presence—Robi Rhodes has been in contact with area churches asking questions

with regard to their community involvement which may help us with our community outreach.

ECW—An “Evening of Elegance” fund raiser for the Campaign is being planned for November 6th. The

Rummage Sale is August 7th and 8th. The Progressive Club has asked ECW to serve another luncheon. We

will plan a celebration for Eunice.

Dear Trinity,

After all the years of working in a role of serving you,

it was hard, last Sunday, to be in a place of honor. And honor

me you did with delicious food, beautiful flowers, generous

gifts and such kind words of appreciation. I simply can’t

thank you enough!

Later in the day I thought of many more things I

would like to have mentioned; special moments, special con-

versations, special people, the ECW lunches, your tolerance

of my frustrations and your consideration of my work load.

The list goes on, but there is always the danger of forgetting

something or someone and thereby offending. So I must simp-

ly say I am so thankful that God used Trinity Church to fulfill

my employment needs and giving me the opportunity to know

you and love you.

You are a beautiful church, and I wish you well, in

your efforts of restoration. But the real beauty of your church

are the people who work and worship together to the glory of

God. You have a special place in my heart and in my prayers.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! And God Bless all of

you.

-Eunice

ECW hosted the annual

Trinity rummage sale.

Father Ron, Carol, Billie and

Jack celebrated birthdays in

August.

Trinity’s children worked hard

with other volunteers to clean

up Trinity Memorial Park.

Lest you thought that deli-

ciousness came in one form...

Conquering yardwork

(and relocating slugs)

one ivy bed at a time

The rummage sale had something

to offer for everyone.

For just as each of us

has one body with many

members, and these

members do not all have

the same function, so in

Christ we, though many,

form one body, and each

member belongs to all

the others.

TRINTY EPISCOPAL CHURCH — NEWARK, OHIO ESTABLISHED AS A PARISH IN 1826

I was born and raised in Newark, Ohio and baptized at Trinity Episcopal Church. In second grade, I joined the

Junior Choir and then graduated to the Adult Choir. As I was working towards a Bachelor’s of Music in

Church Music from Wittenberg University (1975), I was the August supply organist (1972, 1973, 1974, 1975)

for my mother, Mona Rose Jones, who was Trinity's organist from 1966-1989.

From May-July 1976, I was a summer organist at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Granville, Ohio. Upon mov-

ing to North Carolina, I was a summer organist from May-August 1977 at Memorial Baptist Church in Buies

Creek, and from September 1977-July 1979 I was the organist at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Erwin,

North Carolina. We then moved to Rochester, New York in 1979, where from January-June 1980, I was the

organist at Christview United Methodist Church in Rochester, New York. I then pursued a Bachelor’s of Sci-

ence Degree in Music Therapy from Nazareth College of Rochester (1982).

In 1984, I returned to Newark, where I again sang in Trinity's Adult Choir and was the supply organist. While

working on a Master’s of Social Work Degree (OSU 1987), I became Trinity's Choir Director in January of

1986 and the substitute organist when my mother's illness left her at times unable to play.

Upon her death, I became the organist and choir director (February 1989-July 31 1999). Since that time, I have

sung on and off with Trinity's Adult Choir.
