Dear Triumph Travel Club Members, Just a reminder, 2018, Triumph Travel Club breakfasts are scheduled on Thursdays. Everyone enjoys the food at the Elgin Country Club and they do a great job for us. The following Thursdays have been confirmed: February 8th, May 3rd, August 9th, and November 1st. Place these dates on your calendar today. The winner for the referral program at the November 1 breakfast was Myrna Moore. Congratulations! The Ark Encounter was a wonderful trip. After traveling to Covington, Kentucky, where we spent three-nights at the Holiday Inn Riverfront, we honored our veterans. Travel Club member Patty Harrer, who is a member of the “Quilt of Valor” league, brought a quilt for each of our traveling veterans and provide a lovely presentation to each veteran. Tears and smiles became a part of the evening festivities. The next day we visited the Creation Museum and the Ark. The Ark was the major feature of this trip, so I’ll tell you it’s 510 feet long, 85 feet wide, and 51 feet high. The Ark is the largest timber-frame structure in the world. Building the Ark was not one mans creation but many. Among those asked to work on the Ark was a group of Amish men, along with engineers from Disney. The Ark has three decks. Deck 1, has a variety of animal exhibits, where you learn which types of creatures and how many of each were brought on board. Deck 2, details how Noah’s family could have maintained the Ark and cared for thousands of animals during the flood. Deck 3, was the living quarters of Noah and his family. The Ark property also has a petting zoo, animal rides, restaurants and eateries, zip lines and, of course, a gift shop. The next day we had a city tour of Cincinnati and enjoyed the stories about the Underground Railroad in the area. We also visited the Underground Railroad Museum Freedom Center. The final attraction was a narrated cruise on the Ohio River. It was a beautiful day riding up and down the river enjoying the scenery. Our farewell meal on the Ohio River topped off this grand journey. If you weren’t with us, I hope you’ll get a chance to see it someday. In 2018 for referring a friend or neighbor to Triumph Travel Club you have a chance to win $100.00. When your friend or neighbor becomes a member, we will place your name in the referral bowl.
