Torrisi & Procopio Architects, an architecture and design studio founded in 2003 as a collaboration between the architects Daniela Procopio and Giuseppe Torrisi, is constituted as a group practice in 2006.

Directed by the founding members in full support of an architectural language that combines formal and innovative functions with respect to the peculiarities of the places, the firm is mainly involved in the design of civil and industrial buildings, renovation and interior design, addressing a variety of architectural themes is in type and size.

Currently Torrisi & Procopio Architects counts among its customers private individuals, companies, consulting firms in architecture and engineering operating in Italy and abroad.

IDEA AND CONCEPT The idea of being able to enjoy a

food service and entertainment in the aquatic environment.

The segmented conformation of the shell of the TST 01 originates from the shape of the sea urchin.

On the plan instead, the disposition of the moorings in a star and the spiral brise-soleil clearly remind us of another inhabitant of the sea: the “triumphant Star Turban” shell, from which the kiosk takes its name.

USERS AND INTERACTION

o This floating kiosk is specifically designed for adults and tourists to enjoy food services and entertainment in the aquatic environment.

o Not suitable for kids or pets due to lack of fencing at the land piers.o The users can experience the 360˚ view of surrounding and the illusion of

standing on water.

SITE CONTEXTThe floating kiosk is suitable for protected bays, tourist ports, marine parks, lakes or for particular urban areas.

The open spaces on skin façade allows maximum ventilation to lower the temperature inside the kiosk.

Minimize the negative environmental impact of buildings by efficiency on the use of water supply and water energy.

Must be placed on a still water.

MATERIALS AND CONSTRUCTION No foundation, buoyancy devices. Pre-fabricated construction. Flooring consists of timber. Skin façade consists of timber, steel

& concrete. Fully autonomous, independent of

the land. Invisible mooring system (anchor).

Photovoltaic panels. To store electrical energy

Marine desalters. The supply of water (ordinary

depurators for unsalted water)

Water pump.

PROBLEM STATEMENT The kiosk itself is uncontrollable because

there is no anchor or foundation

Not fully covered on top, rain water can easily get into the building.

Can’t be opened in winter; unavailable boat accessibility.

This kiosk have limited total weight of people and furniture so that it will not sink

No cleansing area
