Dear Readers,
Come September, refreshing weather, lush green cover, blooming flowers all over, it’s so energetic and rejuvenating, giving a warm welcome to the festive season! Rain clouds hovering in the sky threatening to pour down but disappears after a few sprinkles. Ganesotsav, the most important and favourite festival of Maharashtra, with its eleven days of extravaganza of celebrations by people of all walks of life irrespective of cast and creed, giving it a befitting name ‘Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav’, came to be drawn to a spectacular closing with the ‘Lalbaug cha Raja’ among other gigantic idols of Ganesha, getting immersed at the Chowpatty. Onam, a festival of peace, joy and prosperity, a Kerala State festival, also coincided with Ganeshotsav this time, adding further sparkles to the festivities. The prices of vegetables, fruits and essential commodities were brought under some control during the festival by the government, ostensibly keeping an eye on the ensuing assembly elections!
There are many crises the international community is facing today. While the middle east crisis is making the world nations sit up and think, what next, the Ebola threat, perceived to be much more dangerous and catastrophic, has not found any specific remedy to treat the virus so far, though there are some signs of effective control of the disease. Lets all hope for an immediate solution to the problems threatening the humanity.
Health is Wealth: I am sure each one of us believe that ‘health is indeed wealth’. And in order to remain healthy, both physically and mentally, some amount of physical exercise is necessary. From my personal experience, my most preferred form of exercise is Aerobics. This form of exercise not only gives you positive energy throughout the day but also create positive attitude. This can be felt immediately after a 20 minutes of Aerobics exercise. Physical fitness helps in creating a healthy mind; in fact both complement each other. Aerobics exercise should not normally be undertaken by those who are very overweight and above the age of 55. Brisk walk of 20-30 minutes daily can also give the desired results. Some people do Yoga, some go to the Gym, some jog and some walk. In any case, physical exercise is just as necessary to the body as food. However, eat the right stuff. Do not over indulge. Give some time to pursue your personal hobbies. Watch some comedy show whenever you watch TV. Laugh as much as you can. Keep your mind serene devoid of any malice. Think and do good things. Smile even at strangers!!
Learn to Give: People always feel delighted to receive things, but when it comes to giving, seldom feel the same. Look at the fruit bearing trees. They grow as they receive the sunlight from the sun, water from the rains and nutrients from the earth, and produce fruits that are consumed by all creatures including human being. They do not eat their own fruits. We too receive the goodness of God and learn to be righteous men as we are in communion with him, and why should we shy away from sharing the goodness of love and care with others? Learn to give and share the blessings that you have, with the have-nots and lesser fortunate people around us. Giving makes us more magnanimous and human. There is nothing great in sharing from what you have in excess. There is greatness when you share from whatever little you have! “We can't help everyone, but everyone can help someone”.
