Objective

To know about Internal Combustion

Engine

To know about the trouble of Internal

Combustion Engine

Fixed the problem of Internal

Combustion Engine

3

Engine can avoid many troubles by

fallowing the prescribed instructions for

starting and operating the engine.

Troubleshooter generally associates

certain troubles with a particular system or

assembly

4

Engine fails to start

ln general, the troubles that prevent an

engine from starting are

(1) the engine can neither be cranked

nor barred over

(2) the engine cannot be cranked, but it

can be barred over

(3) the engine can be cranked, but it still

fails to start.

5

Engine do not start for fuel system

Problem

Empty fuel tank

Fuel is old, dirty, or contaminated

Faulty wiring and connection problems in the fuel system

Fuel pump not working

Fuel supply hose damaged, distorted, or improperly attached

Solution

Fill-up the fuel tank

Change the fuel

Check and repair

Service the pump

repair or replace

6

For Petrol engine

Problem

Fuel pump not work

Fuel pump pressure low

Fuel line lickage

Carburetor does no work

If EFI engine injector not work

Injector pressure low

Solution

Fuel pump repair

Fuel pump repair

Fuel line repair

Carburetor serving

Injector change

Injector change

7

Carburator fuel system

8

EFI Fuel system

9

For Diesel engine

Problem

Fuel pump not work

Fuel filter highly jam

High pressure pump not

work

Injector not work or

pressure very low

Fuel line damage or lickage

Air lock

Solution

Fuel pump servicing

Fuel filter change

Pump servicing

Injector change

Fuel line repair or replace

Check the fuel line

10

Diesel fuel system

11

Engine do not start for Ignition system

Problem

Battery is undercharged

Ignition switch faulty

Ignition coil not

functional

Distributor not functional

High-tension lead faulty

faulty spark plugs

Loose plug wires

Solution

Recharge the battery

Ignition switch repair

Ignition coil replace

Checked and repair

Replace the high-tension

lead

12

Spark Ignition system

13

Engine do not start for Starting

Systemproblem

Battery is uncharged

Starting motor not work

Starter solenoid not work

Starter relay not work

Loss wire connection

Solution

Battery charge

Motor repair

Repair solenoid

Starter relay change

Check wire connection

14

Starting System

15

Engine do not start for

lubrication system

Problem

Main oil pump not

work

Oil filter full jam

Engine oil

pressure gauge not

work

If use low quality oil

Solution

Oil pump change

Oil filter change

Oil gauge change

change oil

16

Lubricating system

17

Engine Can Be Cranked, but Fails

to Start Possible causes:

Fuel supply hose damaged,

distorted, or improperly attached

Fuel tank empty

Fuel filter is clogged up

Fuel is old, dirty, or contaminated

Fuel supply hose damaged,

distorted, or improperly attached

Closed fuel tank vent

Inoperative, or clogged

thermostat

Wrong engine oil

Spark plugs defective, wrong,

plugged, or incorrect spark-plug

gap

Solution

Fuel supply hose change

Fill-up the fuel tank

Filter change

Change the fuel

Servicing the fuel system

Clear the vent

Change the spark plug

18

Engine start but not run smoothly

Problem

Compression lick

Engine head gasket lick

Piston ring defect

Ignition coil defect

Spark plug defect

Injector defect

Air filter jam

If EFI(Electronic Fuel Injection)engine sensors defect

Solution

Compression ring

change

Head gasket change

Piston ring change

Ignition coli change

Air filter change

Injector change

19

Engine knocks

Problem

clogged Carburetor

Ignition Distributor problems

plugged fuel Injectors

Valve timing fails, or faulty

failed or loose timing belt

tensioner

lean air-to-fuel mixture

using fuel of lower than

recommended Octane Rating

Solution

Servicing the

carburetor

Change distributor or

servicing

Change injector

Adjust timing belt setting

Adjust ideal speed

setting

Change the fuel

20

Engine knocks

Problem

Anti-Knock sensors malfunction

Engine is too hot

Carbon deposits in the combustion chamber, pistons

Faulty or defective main crankshaft bearings

water pump bearing is worn out

Flywheel is broken or has cracks

Solution

Sensor change

Check thermostat

Clean carbon from

combustion chamber ,

piston

Change main bearing

Change water pump

bearing

Fly wheel change

21

Engine smokes

Problem

engine is burning oil

worn or broken piston rings

worn valve guide or valve

guide seals

leaking head gasket

broken or cracked engine

head

Air/fuel mixture is too rich

leaky fuel injector

Solution

Change the oil grade

Change piston ring

Change valve guide or

seals

Change head gasket

Change or servicing engine

head

Change injector
