IMPORTANT! READ INSTRUCTIONS PRIOR TO INSTALLATION

Installation Instructions for TRP® Fenders

1. ConsulttheTRPbrochureforthedimensionsofthemountinghardwareavailable.Therearbracket(orcenterbracketonafullfender)dimensionsarecriticalindeterminingwhichbracketwillfitonaparticulartruck.Determinetheoptimumlocationforthefrontandrearmountingbracketsandinthecaseofafullfender,thecenterbrackets.

2. Installthebracketsasperincludedinstructions.AffixallBracketsandpostsorsidemountstotheframeusinggrade8boltstofirmlysecurethebrackets.Aproperlysecuredarrangementshouldbesatisfactoryfor10yearsormore.

3. Inthecaseofhalfandfullfenders,usetherubberinsulatorstripsbetweenthesurfaceoftherearorcenterbracketandthefender.Thesemustbeusedastheyabsorbvibrationwhichcanleadtocrackingoffenders.Therubberstripsaremanufacturedtomatewiththeribbedandsmoothfendermodels.Roundrubbergrommetsshouldnotbeused.Therearbracketmusthaveaflatsurfaceof21"by2"toproperlysecurethefender,andensuremaximumeffectivenessandlongevityofthefender.

4. Thefendersmustbepositionedsothattheyarealignedproperly.Thismeansthatallsurfacesmustmakecontactwiththebracketswithoutthefenderrequiringanytwistingorbending.Shouldthefenderrequiretwistingtoattachittothebrackets,youriskprematureunwarrantedfailure.

5. Drilltheholesinthefendersasneeded.Threeboltsshouldbeusedwhenthefendersareattachedtotherearbracketsorcenterbrackets.WhenusingthemountingkitscontainingtheFB00021mountingarmsthereisaninstallationtemplateincludedforthispurpose.ThistemplateisincludedinHF00261,FF00251,andFF00271mountingkits.

6. UseonlystainlesssteelhardwarewheninstallingTRPTandemFenders.Thehardwaresuppliedinthemountingkitsisstainlesssteel.Failuretouseonlystainlesssteelhardwarecouldresultinprematurestainingofstainlesssteelfenders.

7. Securethefendersfirmlyonthemountingarrangementusingthestainlesshardwareprovidedinthemountingkits.

8. Inordertokeepthefenderscleanwithagoodappearance,cleanonlywithmildsoapandwater.Donotuseharshorgrittycleanersoracidsastheycouldtarnishthesurfaceoffenders.

QUARTER FENDER INSTALLATION GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

Aqualifiedmechanicshouldperforminstallation.Failuretofollowtheseinstallationinstructionscouldcreateaconditionresultinginproductdamage.Recommendedfendermountingwillresultinmaximumfenderandflaplife.

1.Layastraightedgeacrossthetruckframe,locatethetopofthefenderflapaminimumof2inchesbelowthetopofthefifthwheeltopreventdamagetothefenderfromthetrailer.

2.Allowaminimumof3inchesclearancebetweenthetireandthefender.Mountquarterfendersothatthetopoftherubberflapislowerthanthetoplevelofthefifthwheel.

3.Slidethefenderallthewayontothemountbeforeclamping.Dependingonthevehicleapplication,thewidthacrossthefendersshouldbe95inchesand/ortheoutsideedgeofthefendershouldlineupwiththeoutboardsideofthetire.

4.Rotatethefenderuntilthetopflapisnearverticalandlocatetheclamponthe

centeroftubeslot.Tightenclamptoapproximately150ft/lbs.

5.Ifthefendermodelincludesanendcap,installthecapintheendofthetube.

6.Afteravehicleshakedowntest,checkallboltsfortightness.

7.Checkallnuts,bolts,andclampsfortightnessduringregularmaintenanceofthevehicle.

Allow3inchesminimumbetweenthefenderedgeandthetire.Recommendedfendermountingwillresultinmaximumfenderandflaplife.Ifthefenderismountedtooclosetothebottomofthetrailer,itmaycausethefendertobedamagedbyflexingintothetirewhenthetrailertipsandforcesthetopofthefenderdown.

QUARTER FENDER AND MUD FLAP HANGER CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS

Fendersandmudflaphangersendureextremeenvironmentalandserviceconditionsduringstandardover–the-road/on-roadduty.Theseservicerecommendationsaretoallowthemaximumamountofserviceandusefromtheproducts.Contactwithexternalforcessuchasroadobjectsortrailerchassis/landinggearcandamagethefenders/hangersandvoidwarranty.Off-highway/off-roaduseisconsiderednon-standardandcansubstantiallyshortenproductservicelifeandwillvoidwarranty.

QUARTER FENDER MAINTENANCE

CLEANING:Stainlesssteelcandevelopsurfacerustifnotkeptcleanandpolished.Astainlessfinishcanbeeasilyscratchedsodonotuseabrasivesorscotchbritepadstoremovedirtorgrime.Itmaybenecessarytouseproductsliketar&bugremovertoremoveheavyroadgrime.Commerciallyavailablepolishingproductsthathelpbothtoremovesurfacerustandpolishthesurfacearerecommended.Neveruseanabrasivecompoundonthestainlessasitwilldamagethefinish.Useglasscleanerandasoftcottonclothtocleanthestainlessafterinstallation.Acoatoflightwaxwillhelptopreservethefinish.Alintfreesoftpapertowelwillgenerallyscratchlessthanaclothmaterialonfullypolishedhangers.Aclearorwhitepvcprotectantstretchfilmmaybepresentonthepart.Thiswastoprotectthefinishduringmanufacturingandmayberemovedbytheenduser.

Tocleanaluminum,itisbesttousemilddetergent&warmwaterwhenpossible.Alkalis,evenbakingsoda,discoloraluminum.Iftryingastrongercleaner,pre-testonahiddenplacetobesureitcleanssatisfactorily&doesnotdamagethealuminum.Alwaysfollowdirectionsontheproductlabelforaluminumexactly.Becautiousaboutusingabrasivecleaners(scouringpowders,steelwool,abrasivepolishes,etc)astheymaypermanentlyscratchaluminum;paintedoranodizedaluminumsurfaceswillbepermanentlydamaged.Donotcleanaluminumwhenitistoohottotouch,oriftemperaturesgobelow50ºF.Removebugs,sap,tar,treeseeds,etc.assoonaspossible.Theywillhardenwithexposuretosunlight&heatandwillbehardertoremove.Suitablesolventswillremovetar&similarsubstances.Testsolventfirstifthealuminumispaintedtobesureitdoesn'talsoremovethepaint.Followlabelprecautionswhenusingsolvents—nosparkorflameinthearea&havesufficientventilation.

Paintedsteelproductsarecoatedwithanelectrostically-applied,baked-onfinishthatisverydurable.Thisfinishservesasbothafinalcoatingorasaprimercoatingforoverpainting.Standardwashesarerecommendedbutacidicwashesorenginedegreasersshouldnotbeappliedtothepaintedsurface.Itmaybenecessarytouseproductsliketar&bugremovertoremoveheavyroadgrime.Useofacleanwaterrinseonthepartinteriorwillhelptodislodgeandremoveanycorrosivematerialslodgedwithinthepart.Acoatoflightwaxwillhelptopreservethefinish.

REPAIR:Usersmaychangedamagedtopflaps.Reuseexistinghardwareorgrade5zincplatedhardwarewithlockingwashersornuts.Therearenootherserviceablepartsinthefenderassembly.Therearenouserserviceablepartsinthemudflaphangerassembly.Attemptingtodisassemblethefenderorhangermayleadtoinjuryandlossofpartfunction.
