The Project: Pocono Raceway, one of NASCAR’s premier tracks wanted to update the Guest areas. Sharp Pencil Creative Construct was hired to review the tracks “Guest Experience”. One of the major enhancements identified was improving the way guests traveled from the rough and irregular parking lots to the Grandstand. Sharp Pencil’s task was to come up with a cost effective solution. After endless hours of internet searches, dozens of shipments of samples and reviews of all products including technical data, TRUEGRID emerged as the clear choice for this project. It exceeded all of the criteria set, including aligning with NACSAR’s and Pocono Raceways GREEN initiatives. Given that Pocono Raceway is the largest sports facility in the world that is 100 % powered by solar, what better product than TRUEGRID to continue its GREEN initiatives. Also installed at Pocono Raceway was a 10,000 sq. /ft. motorcycle parking lot with two (2’) concrete islands for bike kickstands a “HUGE” hit with the bike crowd. Additionally two service pads (24’ x 24’) were installed along walkways providing space for information Maps, portable restrooms including wash stations. This gives the guests the opportunity to get information or have a “pit stop” before they reach the Grandstand. Priceless for guests and families. A true testament to this product is that Pocono Raceway will install an additional walkway with TRUEGRID for the 2015 race season.

The TRUEgggggGR Solution: The ADA compliant TRUEGRID walkway met all the requirements. A natural crushed stone fill blended nicely with the Pocono Mountains landscape. The maintenance free walkway and motorcycle lot along with the Porto-Potty break area provide a dry, mud-free, family friendly pathway to the event site. A superior “Guest Experience”.

CONCLUSIONS:

“Happier Guests that are given a great arrival experience!!!! Zero washouts from heavy rains. GREEN friendly… Huge time and cost savings. In the racing world that is like winning the pole, leading the most laps and winning the race ...”
