Trumpet TRINITY BAPTIST CHURCH VOLUME 36 • ISSUE 6 JUNE 2012 Summer Vacation D o you remember the feeling of getting off the bus on the last day of school when you were a child? I can remember when the summer felt like it lasted for years. What a great feeling. It was a sense of eternal bliss. No responsibility, nothing you had to do, a whole summer of fun and friends. There is something wonderful about childhood. For me, a vacation is sort of like a return to those days. It is a way of fooling yourself into believing you have no responsibilities for at least a few days. I imagine Heaven will be a place where responsibility will come with the joy of a vacation, so what we do will be a complete joy and we won’t ever grow tired or weary. Unfortunately, ever since Adam sinned our work wears us out. That’s why God told us to take breaks. It’s interesting that the book of Leviticus helps the people of Israel establish a healthy calendar including times of refreshment. Even thousands of years ago, families took breaks and went on trips to celebrate God. I would like to encourage you to take some time off this summer from life’s normal pace to get some rest. I hope you will take time with the ones you love to really have fun and enjoy the world God has blessed us with. When you get that great feeling that you sometimes get on vacation, stop and thank God that He has given joy and rest and remember that one day all we do will be refreshing. I hope you have a blessed summer, For Christ and His Kingdom, Pastor Eddie Veteran and First Responders/Caregiver Support Group This is a group for first responders (military, police, firefighters, EMS, etc.) and/or their caregivers to talk about any issues they may have. Summer VacationDo you remember the feeling of getting off the bus on

the last day of school when you were a child? i can remember when the summer felt like it lasted for years.

When you get that great feeling that you sometimes get on vacation, stop and thank God that he has given joy and rest and remember that one day all we do will be refreshing.

i hope you have a blessed summer,

For Christ and his Kingdom,

Pastor Eddie

TBC MissionsWe are so excited about our upcoming mission trips this summer. We have two teams serving in Guatemala; a college team June 11-18, and a church-wide team July 10-17. please be praying for these teams as they minister in Guatemala through medical clinics, evangelistic crusades, kids camps, and other ministries.

VBSServevBsserve is an opportunity for our youth to serve the children of Trinity Baptist Church and our community on June 25-29, 2012. i am sharing this with you now so that you may begin considering whether or not this is something your student may attend to assist in leading. i am committed to partnering with Brenda Willis (Director of Children’s Ministries) and Kristine hoskins (Director of Preschool Ministries) as they lead this event and in a perfect scenario, we will be able to use as many as 50 youth in assisting in diff erent areas. in addition, there will be training time for vBs for our students on Thursday, June 21 at Trinity Baptist Church. so, this is a big commitment, but one that is worth our eff orts, in my opinion. i hope your son or daughter will consider helping assist us with this tremendous outreach opportunity. For more info contact, pastor Bryant at [email protected]

World ChangersWorld Changers is our missions opportunity that we are off ering our students on July 9-14, 2012 in Walter-boro, sC. While any student between 6-12th grade is eligible to go, we don’t recommend this being the 1st trip your son or daughter goes on with us. each day your student will get up at 6 am, eat breakfast and head to a work site to work until 4 pm on a home that needs rehabilitation. in addition, your son or daugh-ter will experience themed worship services based on ephesians1:22. World Changers is sponsored by lifeway Christian resources of the southern Baptist Convention and is an event that i would encourage students who are looking for a spiritually and physi-cally challenging missions experience. The cost is $249 and the only way you can reserve your son or daugh-ter’s spot is to put down a $50 non-refundable deposit.Contact pastor Bryant at [email protected] for more information.

Alcohol & Drug AddictionSupport Group

We are gathering information and interest to begin a support group for those battling various forms of addiction. if you have an interest in participating or possibly leading this group, please contact pastor Jim smith at [email protected].

sometimes cooking is the last thing you want to do, especially after a long day. Carry out, to go or take-away are all terms that describe the relief of not having to clean up a messy kitchen. most women spend time juggling a variety of responsibilities. some relief is good, but wouldn’t it be nice to have some lasting encouragement for your busy life?

you can fi nd just that this summer when you take part in Take-away Tuesdays sponsored by TBC’s Women’s ministry. The only thing you need to commit to is coming two Tuesday night’s this summer. you will take-away laughter, encouragement and a refreshing from God’s word.
