Trumpeter History T he Trumpeter Tabletop Gaming Society was founded in Burnaby, BC in 1964 by Jack Hutchings. Jack started playing tabletop games when he was 16 years old in 1927. He moved to Vancouver from Winnipeg in 1954 and settled in Burnaby. In 1964 he established the first tabletop gaming club in British Columbia, The Trumpeters, and ran his club from the basement of his home until the fall of 1977. The club Jack started later spawned other clubs in the Vancouver area, and in other parts of the province, including a tabletop gaming club at UBC in the mid 1960’s. In 1973, Jack organized the first tabletop game convention in Vancouver, which attracted over 400 people. F riday Game Nights are held once amonth in the large auditorium on

the 2nd floor at Bonsor RecreationComplex in Burnaby. The tabletopgames played by the Trumpeter

Society is quite varied and includes:

Trumpeter Salute Convention

E ach year the Trumpeter TabletopGames Society hosts a 3-day games

convention: Trumpeter Salute at BonsorRecreation Complex in Burnaby (next toMetrotown). During Trumpeter Salute

many open games and tournamentgames, including a Warhammer 40KTournament, are presented in whicheveryone is welcome to join and play.During the 3-day event, over 275 attend.

author, H.G.Wells. Sir WinstonChurchill, twice Prime Minister of theUnited Kingdom, used these tabletop

rules and hada large collec-tion of handpainted table-top miniatureswhich he usedto play withhis closestfriends wellinto his lateryears.
