St. Anthony of Padua Church www.sapparish.org December 6, 2015 On March 13, Pope Francis called for an Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy, which will begin on the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, December 8, 2015 and will conclude on the Solemnity of Christ the King, November 20, 2016. A Jubilee is dedicated time on the Church calendar, during which we place a special emphasis on our relationship with Christ and one another. Throughout this Jubilee Year of Mercy, the Church is called to emphasize her mission of mercy. We are called to wit- ness to society the act of mercy that Jesus displayed on the crossforgiving those who crucified him. Our Archdiocese seeks to make this Year a time of spiritual con- version to the mercy of God. By embracing the merciful love of the Father, through the Sacrament of Reconciliation, in living out our baptismal call of service, or when going on pilgrimage, we open ourselves to the transforming love of the One who raised Jesus from the dead. As missionaries of mercy, we are sent to encounter Jesus in others and witness with joy to all. Second Sunday of Advent ~ II Domingo de Adviento

El 13 de marzo, el Papa Francisco convocó a un Jubileo Extraordinario de Misericordia, el cual empezará en la Solemnidad de la Inmaculada Concepción, el 8 de diciembre del 2015, y concluirá en la Solemnidad de Cristo Rey, el 20 de moviembre del 2016. Un Jubileo as un tiempo consagrado en el caeldario de la Iglesia, durante el cual ponemos un énfasis especial en nuestra relación con Cristo y con los demás, A lo largo del Jubileo de la Misericordia, la Iglesia está llamada a hacer énfasis en su misión de misericordia. Nosotros estamos llamados a testificar ante la sociedad el acto de misericordia que Jesús mani-festó en la cruz – perdonando a aquellos quienes lo crucificaron. Aquí en la Ar-quidiócesis de New Orleans, buscamos hacer del Ano Jubilar un tiempo de con-versión espiritual a la misericordia de Dios. Recibiendo el amor misericordioso del Padre, a través del Sacramento de la Reconciliación, viviendo nuestro llama-do bautismal de servicio, o cuando vamos en peregrinaje, nos abrimos nosotros

mismos al amor transformador de Aquel quien resucitó a Jesús de entre los muertos. Como misioneros de la misericordia, somos llevados a hallas a Jesús en los demás y testificar con alegría ante los demás.

Estamos a una semana para dar regalos al Ar-

bol Generoso. Porfavor entregue su regalo en-

en la iglesia a mas tardar el Domingo 13 para

la misa de las 11:00am. Limite su regalo a

"Adelante, son nuestros!" Ese era el

grito de batalla de Santa Juana de Arco,

la joven virgen quien lideró al ejército

francés en varias batallas importantes

durante la Guerra de los 100 años y la

cual preparó el camino para la corona-

ción de Carlos VII.

En una batalla, Santa Juana fue herida

en el cuello por una flecha. A diferen-

cia de la mayoría de los hombres en la

guerra, ella no se recostó, ella se le-

vantó inmediatamente, se quitó la fle-

cha y continuó dirigiendo al ejército.

En otra batalla mientras escalaba una

muralla para atacar a los ingleses, ella

fue herida en la cabeza con una bala de

cañón, como era de esperarse de un

santo guerrero, ella sacudió su cabeza y

continuó escalando. Su liderazgo (y

estilo de batalla, el cual era 100% ata-

que) destruía al ejército inglés donde

fuese que se lo encontrasen.

Ella fue capturada por los Burgundíos,

vendida a los ingleses, juzgada por una

corte eclesiástica y quemada en la

hoguera cuando tenía 19 años. 25 años

después, el Papa (Papa Calixto III) in-

vestigó el juicio a petición de la madre

de Santa Juana, Isabela Romee, el cual

el inquisidor general declaró nulo y

quien aseguro que Juana era una mártir.

Tomo 500 años para que ella fuera can-

onizada oficialmente, y en contra de la

creencia popular, Santa Juana no se

vestía con ropa de hombre, ella luchó

todas sus batallas usando un vestido y

con armadura por encima.
