DESCRIPTION

Our silencers are entirelywelded in carbon steel S235 JRwith internal and externalprotection provided by a hightemperature black prime paint.Heat emission is reduced byinternal insulation in all oursilencers ensuring low surfacetemperatures. The nominaldiameter of the inlet andexhaust (DN) and also thenoise reduction rating (15, 25,30, 40) determines the nameof the silencers. E.g. SM 30PDN50.

ACOUSTICS

The acoustic definition of our SM silencers has beenoptimised by our Researchand Development department. Our silencers are based ontwo noise-reducing principles : - Absorption – SM15P andSM25P- Reactive and wave phaseshift plus absorption forSM30P and SM40P

SELECTION CRITERIA

EXPANSION

The silencers form a fixedpoint. For operation at hightemperatures, an expansionsystem is required to absorball relative movements.

SOUND INSULATION

For high attenuation or low residuallevels, we would recommend soundinsulation of the silencer casingand also the flanges and the pipesupstream of the silencer in order to eliminate radiation of unsilencednoise.

VIBRATION ISOLATION

Where high attenuation or lowresidual levels are required it isadvisable to use a flexibleconnection from the engine toisolate vibration. Similarly, anti-vibration mounts may be providedbetween the silencer and its supportstructure.

INSTALLATION

The gas flow direction must beobserved. It is marked by anarrow on the body of the device.Our silencers can be placedhorizontally or verticallydepending on the spaceavailable and the position of thepipes. We can advise you on themost suitable inline position forthe silencer. Full installation,operation and maintenanceinstructions are provided in ourdatasheet TE BO 185. All our silencers > 50 kgs areequipped with hoisting eyeswelded into the casing of theapparatus to facilitate handling.

DOCUMENTATION

AND TESTING

This type of equipment is not apressure vessel and is thereforenot subject to specific tests orcontrols. A dimensional checkreport and visual inspectionwill be carried out in ourworkshops. For specialapplication we can provide you with welding record,certificate of materials,assembly plan, various notesand calculations; identificationand packing list, acceptancereport by an official body, etc. Ageneral arrangement drawing ofthe whole product (CAD format) is automatically provided.
