a messaGe from the director of athleticsDear Tiger Fans and Friends,

Thank you for your interest in the Tiger Scholarship Fund and Mizzou Athletics. Whether you have contributed to our program for a long time or are considering a contribution for the fi rst time, we thank you for your interest in our student-athletes. Please know that your support is critical to the success of our 502 student-athletes academically, socially and competitively.

All scholarship costs of our student-athletes must be funded completely through resources generated by the Athletic Department. The costs of tuition, fees, books, room and board have increased signifi cantly over the past several years and we would anticipate those costs continuing to rise. This results in a tremendous need for private giving and the Tiger Scholarship Fund is our most important asset in this effort.

We are among the national leaders in academic success in athletic programs at the NCAA Division I level. In order to maintain those results and continue to improve, we need your help. We are Preparing champions for life, and you play a vital role in that effort. Our student-athletes are the leaders of tomorrow and we must give them every tool possible to achieve Championships in the classroom, in the community and in athletic competition.

Thank you for being such an important part of our team and supplying the FOUNDATIONS for our success.

Go Tigers!

Michael F. AldenDirector of Athletics

mission of the tsfThe mission of the Tiger Scholarship Fund is to provide scholarship support for Mizzou student-athletes. All contributions given to the TSF annual fund are used to cover scholarship expenses such as tuition, room, board, academic counseling, tutors and life skills programs for Mizzou student-athletes.

In addition, the TSF generates private funding for endowments, capital projects and other needs as prioritized by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. Gifts to the Tiger Scholarship Fund are utilized in a fiscally responsible manner to “Prepare Champions for Life” and to enhance and instill the three core values of the Athletics Department, which are:

academic inteGrity social resPonsibilitycomPetitive excellence

Athletics is the Window Through Which the University is Often Viewed: Athletic competition and athletic success are important to the University of Missouri. Financial stability in athletics ultimately breeds success and success breeds pride among our many alumni and friends. Studies have shown that winning – more importantly, winning the “right way” (in compliance with NCAA rules and with great team effort) – can be a tremendous recruiting tool for the general student population as well as for potential student-athletes. In addition, athletic accomplishments often provide an invaluable public relations “advertisement” for Mizzou while also serving as a catalyst for philanthropy to all areas of the University.

self supporting Athletics Department: The University of Missouri does not receive institutional support for operational and debt service funding toward its intercollegiate athletics program. Thus, similar to private business, the Mizzou Athletics Department must operate solely from what revenue it generates.

Priority Points ProGramThe Tiger Scholarship Fund Priority Points Program is utilized to reward both donor loyalty and generosity. Each donor’s Priority Points total is taken into consideration when assigning or allocating the following:

new or additional season ticketsseat relocation requestsreserved parkingfootball away-game ticketsneutral site game ticketsbig 12 championship ticketsbowl Game ticketsPremium seating (Football & Men’s Basketball Suites, Tiger Lounge Seats, Loge Box and Club Seats based on availability)

Tsf Donors receive:

1 Point – For every $100 given to Mizzou Athletics via the TSF.

2 Points – For every consecutive year you have purchased season tickets for Football or Men’s Basketball. (Points are added following the close of each sport’s respective season.)

3 Points – For every consecutive year you have been a member of the TSF.

NeW! earn priority points for Away/Neutral site Ticket purchaseEarn 2 points for Football Bowl game and neutral site game ticket purchases (Kansas Football and Illinois Men’s Basketball games only). Points are awarded per game, not per ticket.

Notes: For consecutive season tickets and consecutive years of giving, points are not received for the first year of purchase or donation. Points begin accumulating during the second consecutive year. In the event that season tickets and/or TSF contribution is not renewed the Priority Points in these categories will revert back to zero.

Please Note: Should you choose to “pool” your contributions with other alumni/friends, please be aware that the TSF can only recognize one individual from the group as the contact person and only the contact person will receive Priority Points and the associated benefits listed above.

10

Page 13: TSF Donor Guidebook

neW member referral ProGram – Just Get oneTSF members who bring new fans on board to contribute to Mizzou Athletics or renew 2010 referrals are rewarded for their efforts!

Our goal is to increase TSF memberships. One way to accomplish this goal is through the Just Get One program. The Just Get One program is an opportunity for Tiger Scholarship Fund members to help benefit both their TSF account and Mizzou Athletics. There is strength in numbers and we need you to “Just Get One”!

Just Get One participants who sign up a new TSF member will earn five (5) Priority Points for their first member recruited in a given calendar year. For each additional member recruited in one calendar year, JGO participants will receive an additional two (2) Priority Points.

Previously recruited membersIf you have participated in the Just Get One program by recruiting members to the Tiger Scholarship Fund in previous calendar years, please assist us in contacting your recruited member to ensure their continued support. You have the opportunity to earn two (2) additional Priority Points for each recruited member you renew in a given year.

New members are individuals who did not contribute to Mizzou Athletics in the previous calendar year.

The following Q & A is intended to provide you with some general information regarding your participation as a TSF donor. Please contact the TSF staff for more information at 573.882.0704.

Q. What if I was in the $25 donor seating sections (D, DD, E, EE, P, PP, Q, or QQ) in Faurot Field that have increased in 2011 and do not want to make the requested TSF per seat gift amount required to remain there?

a. Your seats may be moved closer to the goal line into one of the Gold Sections (see pages 14-15) which are general public season ticket locations requiring no TSF gift. It is the goal of the TSF and Mizzou Ticket Office to work with those that choose this option to find the best possible seat relocation.

Q. My company has a matching gift program. What do I need to do to make sure the matching gift is applied to my annual donation?

a. Contact the TSF and we will assist you in your matching gift request. Your company’s matching gift form should be attached to your TSF application if possible. Please see page 30 for IRS matching gift information.

Q. I want to improve my seat location. How does the upgrade process work?

a. All upgrades are based on your TSF annual giving level, Priority Points total, and availability. Unfortunately, not all requests can be honored. Be specific on your request. Mention the desired location, section, or row. Also, include several options for your desired seat changes. Upgrade requests should be made in writing and submitted with your season ticket application (not your TSF membership application). The only exception to this is if you would like to be placed on the premium seating (suites/club seats/loge boxes/LeMone Lounge) waiting list…please make this request by phone or mail direct to the TSF office.

Q. Do I need to purchase a ticket for my infant/child, even though he/she will not occupy a seat?

a. All children above the age of two (2) must have a ticket for admission to Faurot Field and Mizzou Arena.

Q. When do I need to have my TSF donation turned in to be listed in the Football and Men’s Basketball game day programs?

a. By the TSF deadline of May 31st. Please make sure you select to list your name in the program on your TSF application. Varsity Club members and higher will have their names listed in the program.

All-American Society members are invited to exclusive events with Mizzou head coaches, student-athletes, and administrators throughout the year and are recognized on campus. Membership is granted for life once the aforementioned criteria are met.

The John and Dolly Kadlec society Formed in 2009, membership in The John and Dolly Kadlec Society is exclusively offered to those who make commitments of support to the Tiger Scholarship Fund in the form of planned gifts such as wills, bequests, annuities and life insurance policies. Donors are invited to exclusive functions, including socials with the coaching staff and closed practices periodically throughout the year in which their gift is made.

TigeriMpACTThe mission of TigerIMPACT is to provide opportunities for family, friends and alumni to support, get involved and make a positive difference on our Mizzou Women’s Basketball Program. All gifts made to TigerIMPACT will offset fi nancial needs above and beyond their budgeted expenses in a given year.

Olympic sports Giving Philanthropic gifts to benefi t our Olympic sports programs truly do make a difference and are sincerely appreciated by our coaches and student-athletes. Contributions to Olympic sports are 100% tax-deductible. Many teams at the University of Missouri rely on private support for locker room improvements, equipment purchases and many other expenses not covered in their operating budgets.

Champions for life locker Campaign Former student-athletes have the opportunity to leave a legacy for the next generation of Tigers. Locker “sponsorships” are available in conjunction with the football, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, baseball, soccer, and softball programs. A recognition plaque will be prominently displayed on the front of a locker and the donor name will be included on a plaque just outside the entrance to the team locker room. Lockers may be sponsored from $1,000 to $5,000 depending on the sport and may be pledged over a maximum three-year period.

Big Wheel program The Big Wheel Program consists of car dealers from across the state of Missouri and beyond that donate the usage of new or low mileage vehicles to Athletics Department coaches and staff. The purpose of the program is to aid in the areas of recruiting, scouting, public relations and fundraising. Big Wheel donors receive complimentary tickets and reserved parking for the season in Football and/or Men’s Basketball, and are recognized at the TSF Gold Club level.

donor aGreementDonors agree to adhere to and abide by rules and regulations concerning intercollegiate athletics as determined by the NCAA, the Big 12 Conference and the University of Missouri. Should questions arise concerning the various rules and regulations, donors acknowledge that they should contact the Mizzou Athletic Compliance Office at 573.882.2076. Donors agree that should they be found by the NCAA or the University to have violated, knowingly or without regard for the same, rules or regulations, they may be disassociated from the University, athletics program and its activities. Donors can be expelled as a member of the Tiger Scholarship Fund and will forfeit all benefits and privileges (including the right to receive priority season tickets and parking at specified athletic events) until the end of the period of disassociation and subsequent reinstatement by the Tiger Scholarship Fund.

tax informationIf your contribution includes an option to purchase tickets, 80% of your gift is tax deductible. For 100% tax deductibility of your gift, you must decline your right to receive any benefits at the time you make your gift. This must be noted in writing or on the detachable membership form. Major gifts or contributions not associated with ticket priority are automatically 100% deductible. Only the individual or company making the gift is eligible to take the tax deduction. Tiger Scholarship Fund donors will receive a receipt for tax purposes. Since the TSF operates in conjunction with the University of Missouri Office of Development and Alumni Relations, gifts are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.

irs matchinG Gift informationIt has come to our attention that per IRS Publication 526, the IRS 80/20 Rule relating to charitable contributions from which a donor receives or expects to receive benefits (the right to purchase parking passes, priority seating for events, etc.) must also be applied to the matching gift claims as well. If benefits are related to a TSF contribution, the matching claim could only be submitted for 80% of the portion of the contribution which is considered truly charitable and tax deductible. Please make note of this change when considering your TSF contribution.
