North Valley Chorale The choir that cares.
The North Valley Chorale (NVC) is a voluntary, non profit (501 (c)(3)) organization dedicated to the cultural, musical, and social enrichment of metropolitan Phoenix and its surrounding communities.
We serve all segments of our community by providing affordable and
accessible performances of choral music from many traditions, eras, and cultures. Our repertoire ranges from classical to pop and Broadway.
We reach out into the community to serve and lift up those who are suffering and in need. Throughout the year we share the gifts of music, companionship and goods with those who are needy, ill or homeless. This season we are proud to partner with UMOM shelters, the Banner Alzheimer
Institute (BAI), St. Matthew School and several senior living communities.
We are still looking for a few good singers. NVC practices on Wednesday evenings at the Phoenix Boys Choir, 1131 E. Missouri Ave, Phoenix, AZ. Visit us on the web for more information about the NVC. Call (602) 992-7095 to schedule an audition.

Magnificat
Johann Sebastian Bach
Originally written for Christmas in 1723, Johann Sebastian Bach’s Magnificat is considered to be one
his masterpieces, even by Bach’s standards. This sacred cantata derives its text from Mary’s song of praise, the “Magnificat”, as written in the first chapter of the Gospel according to St. Luke, verses 46-
55. Bach scored this work festively, including several inspirational arias, baroque orchestra and is
one of the few works that Bach composed for a five-part choir.

Tonight's concert has to be one of my favorites as it has so much variety--from JS Bach's "Magnificat" to Josh Groban's "Believe"-- there's something for every person in attendance. Hours upon hours of rehearsal and individual time spent learning music and movement have been invested in this performance and I'd like to thank all of our members for their hard work.
I need to recognize four amazing members for their help these past months--
Angie Schermitzler, Smith Graham & Corey De Tar were wonderful leading small group rehearsals at the beginning of our season, and Shannon Barrett has yet again performed her magic and created appropriate movement for our more contemporary songs.
Special thanks goes to our Chorale Board who as usual have gone above and beyond the call of duty--Anita, Mark, Charley, Margaret, Barbara, Carol, Kelly, Liz, Gary and of course, my favorite member, Graham. Every group should be blessed with such dedicated, gifted members. Thanks also to former board member Pam Thompson for her help with tickets and to Karen Thomson for her help organizing our volunteers and finally to our volunteers who are always there for us in our need.
I am so blessed to have all of you in my life. I hope this concert will be the beginning of the BEST Christmas season ever.
