    partnership. performance. pride.

    Hello Parents,

I don't think any of us could have imagined being in the situation that we are in. I hope you are nding that our staff is going to great lengths to remotely maintain the excellent levels of instruction that we've taken pride in at GHS for generations. Know that we are here to support your child and family and that we will do everything possible to make your child's high school experience everything you have hoped for throughout their life.

Communication is of paramount importance at times like this. We've learned this week that some providers (XFinity, in particular) do not permit calls from restricted phone numbers. Unfortunately, most calls coming from our staff come up as restricted numbers. Having a reliable email address for staff members to reach you at is of the utmost importance.

Make sure to watch Dr. Vespe's video public announcement below updating our school community comprehensively on how week 1 has gone and what to expect in the week ahead. Gloucester City School District continues to maintain a COVID 19 web page to centralize all information during this time for parents and the community. Please continue to keep informed

  • through our social media platforms and this newsletter and feel free to reach out to me at any time at [email protected]

    Stay Well...In Partnership,

  • sticking together through challenging times For generations, people have always marveled at the family atmosphere at GHS. To keep our family connected during school closure, we have created the following social media challenges to maximize student, staff, and family interactions while school is closed:

Trick Shot Tuesday - show us your greatest athletic creativity. “What Would You...?” Wednesday - we'll post all sorts of GHS questions for feedback. TikTok Thursday - GHS versions of the national craze. Top 5 Friday - Share any of your "top 5" lists and see if Lions Nation agrees.

covid can't stop the lions news The Lions News has transitioned to lming from home once per week to continue GHS updates.

  • plans in process... If school closure is extended beyond March 27th, we will:

Convert this year’s “Rising Senior Night” to the virtual format so 11th grade students and parents can begin planning for the road ahead. Distribute local scholarship information and applications to Seniors virtually.

We also continue to work with World Class Vacations to identify three alternate weeks to reschedule this year’s Senior trip to.

We will do everything possible to continue all school activities and traditions for this year's high school students. Don't hesitate to reach out to Mr. Gorman with any concerns you have regarding an activity or tradition.

the marc ryan story Have you ever heard of GHS legend and American hero, Marc Ryan? Every Lion should know his name and story. Marc was one of the best football players in school history (graduated in 1998), an incredible human being, and a courageous United State Marine. Tragically, he was killed while serving our country in Iraq in November of 2004. Make sure to follow our social media as the book written about Marc is shared a few pages at a time each day.
