History:

TUCKERS IN FINLEY

In 1895, Bailey Madison (Matt) Tucker

leased land near One Creek and moved his

family there from Hackett Arkansas. 1908

saw the Tuckers moving north of Finley,

where Matt purchased 320 acres of land that

is still in the Tucker family today. During

those early days, the ranges were open and

Matt farmed and traded in cattle and horses.

All of the ranchers in that era worked their

cattle or made a living on the native

Choctaw ponies, the original ranch horse.

In later years, those same ponies were

crossed with Thoroughbreds and Quarter

Horses to produce a bigger, stronger ranch

steed. The resulting cross provided local

ranchers with cow horses with the stamina

and athletic ability to handle the harsh,

rugged conditions of the Kiamichi

Mountains.

In 1971, Todd’s father, Ray, purchased their

first registered quarter horse mares from

Frank Perkins of Tyler, TX. Many of the

horses in this sale can be traced back to

those same mares, Tonka’s Tempest and

Cardinal’s Babe.

NEIGHBORING RANCHERS

In addition to the Tuckers, the Millers,

Helms, and Akards have been members of

the Finley community for many years. 116

years later, members of those same families

continue to carry on the ranching tradition

on the Finley Loop.

CODE TALKERS

Back in 1895, Matt Tucker became friends

with Joseph Davenport of Finley. Joseph

was one of the original Code Talkers in

World War I. Like the Tuckers, Joseph lived

out his life in Finley. He is buried in the

Davenport cemetery.

2008: Todd traded the last parcel of land

that belonged to his father Ray to the

current Ray Tucker Ranch owner. In

exchange, he received the land that had once

belonged to the Davenport family. On that

very same land is the Davenport family

cemetery in which Joseph is buried, and is

the site of the 2011 Tucker Ranch

Production Sale.

Any known blemishes or defects will be called before the bidding begins. Every animal will be sold under this rule. Therefore, NO animal can be rejected by buyer(s) when struck off by the auctioneer.

All horses become the property of the buyer when they are released from the sale ring.

All papers will be mailed as soon as checks clear the banks.

We strongly urge buyers to thoroughly examine the horses that interest them. They will have to back their judgment with money. All sales are absolute and final.
