The TURBODRAINTM applies the principle of gravity fi ltration and guarantees highest performance on minimum space. Flocculant is added to the suspension and the fl occulated sludge is evenly distributed over the whole width of the continuously circulating belt. transporting remaining free water close to the belt to drain through the apertures of the belt. The adjustable ramp multiplies the retention time on the belt, thus allowing more water to drain off and increasing the dry solids content of the thickened sludge. The sludge is discharged from the ramp by a scraper. Thickening on the TURBODRAINTM may reduce the volume of all types of suspensions by up to 95%.

The TURBODRAINTM TDC is ideally suited for biological and slow settling sludges at low suspended solid concentration in the suspension, such as:

- waste-activated sludge- mixed primary and activated sludge < 1% DS

The TURBODRAINTM TDH was especially developed to thicken quick settling suspensions and slurries with high suspended solid concentration in the suspension such as:

- digested sludge- primary sludge- mixed primary and activated sludge - mineral slurries- fi bre containing suspensions (paper industry)

For very special applications the TURBODRAINTM TDH-L has become available.

Design

As experts for fi ltration and thickening of many different types of suspensions we offer the TURBODRAINTM for the solution of your sludge thickening problem.

Special attention was given to the design of the feed and maturation chamber and the fi ltrate collection trough to achieve optimum fl ow conditions.

The Bellmer ChicanesThe wedge-shaped chicanes prevent the built-up of a sludge layer hardly permeable for further fi ltrate drainage. Simultaneously the chicanes create conti-nuously open areas on the belt surface to allow more fi ltrate to drain through the belt. The ploughing action of the chicanes also liberates additional free water from the pre-thickened sludge.

The Bellmer rampAt the end of the belt the pre-thickened sludge is dammed up by the adjustable, patented ramp. The ramp increases the retention time of the sludge on the belt - thus enhancing considerably the fi nal dry solid content of the thickened sludge.

Additional details and improvementsThe patented maturing chamber integrated the sludge feed system of the TURBODRAIN as well as the adjustable supporting legs demonstrate the efforts we have put into the design of details. An odour hood is available as an option which can be connected to a fume exhaust system. A simple odour hood without exhaust nozzle is also available.

High quality fi ltrate The integrated process technology guarantees a very low concentration of suspended solids of the fi ltrate. The BELLMER RECYCLING SYSTEMTM BRS will improve solids capture and is installed if very high solids capture rates (>98%) are required.The German Association for Water and Environ-ment has published a fi gure of Euro 205.00 being the cost incurred for each ton of solids in fi ltrate to be recycled.

Minimised fl occulant consumptionThe optimally synchronized system of the paten-ted Bellmer mixing unit and the integrated feed and maturation chamber as well as the gentle thicke-ning on the belt ensure a very low consumption of fl occulant.
