    Wow, this place is great! Its so good that we have decided to come here said Aye.

    Aye and Mehmet had come to atalca to have a picnic with their families and friends

    from their school. It was May and the weather was great.

    Look! everybody is having fun said Aye pointing out their friends who were

    playing with a ball and making a fire.

    I know even more enjoyable things to do, uttered Mehmet in a mood of excitement. They exchanged glances

    for a while and Mehmet said, lets explore the forest.While they were walking through the depths of the forest, Mehmet tripped over a stone and was about to fall.

    When he looked back, he realised that it wasnt a stone but castanets. He held them in bewilderment and with

    the rhythmic sound that came from the castanets , everything began to change and they found themselves...

    -Oh, locul acesta este minunat! mi pare att de

    Ayse i Mehmet veniser la Catalca la picnic cufamiliile lor i prietenii de la coal. Era luna mai i

    vremea era minunat.

    -Uite! Toat lumea se distreaz de minune, spuse

    Ayse, artnd spre prietenii care se jucau cu o minge sau

    fceau focul.

    -Eu tiu nite lucruri i mai plcute pe care le

    putem face, spuse Mehmet entuziasmat.

    Copiii s-au uitat unul la celalalt i Mehmet spuse:

    -S mergem s explorm pdurea.n timp ce ei se plimbau prin pdure, Mehmet s-a

    mpiedicat de o piatr i era ct pe-aci s cad. Cnd s-a uitat

    napoi, i-a dat seama c nu era o piatr, ci erau nite

    castaniete. Le-a luat mirat n mn i, n sunetul ritmic al

    castanietelor, totul a nceput s se schimbe n jurul lor i ei s-

    au trezit n...

    Buras harika bir yer. yi ki buraya gelmeye karar verdik dedi Aye.

    Aye ve Mehmet aileleri ve okuldan arkadalaryla atalcaya piknie gelmilerdi. Mays ayyd ve hava harikayd.

    Bak! Herkes eleniyor dedi Aye top oynayan ve ate yakan arkadalarn gstererek.

    Bundan daha elenceli eyler biliyorum dedi Mehmet heyecanla. Bir sre baktlar ve Mehmet

    Hadi orman kefedelim dedi.

    Ormann derinliklerine doru yrrlerken Mehmet bir taa takld ve az kalsn decekti. Geri dnp

    baktnda onun bir ta deil kastanyet olduunu fark etti. aknlk iinde onlar eline ald ve kastanyetlerden gelen

    ritmik sesle her ey deimeye balad ve kendilerini...

    ...in a country called Spain. The children discovered the beauty that was there. But

    Mehmet was not distracted, and was thinking about the power of these strange giant

    castanets. Initially the castanets were red in Turkey and now they had turned yellow. Why

    was that?. The children visited many communities all over Spain, even Madrid, the capital of Spain, but the kind

    of rocks shown on the castanets were in Catalonia, Girona, so the children tried to go there. Mehmet and Ayse

    wanted to go back home.In the AVE (train) they met a man called Juan.

    He told them: "In Catalonia there is a strange forest. These rocks have so much moss that it is not difficult to

    find the place they come from." The children climbed on top of the mountain, Monserrat. They started to hear

    the same sound as before. It was the castanets, and suddenly they were transported ...

    ...ntr-o ar numit Spania. Copiii au descoperit multe lucruri interesante acolo. Dar Mehmet nu s-a lsat distras

    i se gndea la puterea acestor ciudate castaniete. La nceput, n Turcia, ele erau roii i acum deveniser

    galbene. Oare de ce? Copiii au vizitat multe orae n Spania, chiar i Madrid, capitala Spaniei, dar tipul acesta de

    pietre se gsea numai n Catalonia, Girona, deci copiii au ncercat s mearg acolo.

    Mehmet i Ayse vroiau s se ntoarc acas.

    n tren ei au ntlnit un om, Juan. El le-a spus: n Catalonia este o pdure ciudat; pietrele acestea au atat de

    mult muchi pe ele nct nu este greu s gsii locul de unde vin.

    Copiii au urcat pe vrful muntelui Monserrat. Deodat au nceput s aud acelai sunet, erau castanietele, i dintr

    -o dat au fost transportai...

    altlar. Mehmet ve Aye eve geridnmek istediler.

    Trende Juan adnda bir adamla karlatlar.

    Onlara Katalonyada garip bir orman var. Bu kayalarda yle ok yosun var ki onlarn geldii yeri

    bulmanz zor deil dedi. ocuklar Monserrat dana trmandlar. Ayn sesi duymaya baladlar. Ses

    kastanyetlerden geliyordu ve aniden

    Portekize gtrldler.

    When they heard

    the sound of the castanets

    that had changed colour (on

    one side green, on the other side red and yellow in

    middle), they were transported to Portugal. But there

    was an error in the transporting process. Instead theywent to a beautiful place, whose name, in Portuguese,

    means planted by the sea. They met in a huge

    labyrinth garden. And now? They wondered which

    way they should go? Everything was like an enigma to

    solve. But calmly they were answered those big earth

    enigmas: why do we have the seasons of the year?

    Why dont the stars fall from the sky? ...And so many

    others. Step by

    step they came to

    the end of the

    labyrinth, and

    surprise, surprise,

    a w onde r fu l ,

    co loured and

    typical Portuguese cockerel was expecting them, with

    a large smile. It was the Portuguese Barcelos

    cockerel.

    He happily sang:

    -Congratulations! You were amazing! Thats why I

    gave you these blue and red castanets.

    When the children picked up the castanets, instead of

    the traditional sound, they heard a big dlim! Dlam!

    and a sound of a bell clanging. They looked carefully

    and they saw, in the middle of the castanets, a

    wonderful English monument - Big Ben.

    nsemna aezat lng mare iar castanietele ischimbaser din nou culoarea (acum erau verde, rosu si galben). Se aflau ntr-un loc minunat, o uria grdin

    sub form de labirint. i acum? Pe unde ar trebui sa mearg? Totul era o enigm ce trebuia rezolvat. Calm, ei au

    raspuns la toate intrebarile: De ce avem patru anotimpuri ntr-un an?, De ce nu cad stelele din cer? ...i multe,

    multe altele. Pas cu pas, rspunznd la ntrebri, ei s-au apropiat de sfritul labirintului, i, surpriza surprizelor,

    acolo i astepta zmbind larg, un coco portughez frumos colorat care le spuse:

    Felicitri! Ai fost uimitori! De aceea v colorez aceste castaniete n rou i albastru. Cnd au luat din

    nou castanietele, n loc de sunetul cunoscut, au auzit un dlim! Dlam! i sunetul unui clopoel. S-au uitat cu

    atenie i, n mijlocul castanietelor, au vzut un minunat monument un

    gelen gzel bir yere gittiler. Byk, labirent eklinde

    bir baheyle karlatlar.

    Ve imdi? Hangi yoldan gitmelilerdi? Her ey

    zlecek bir bulmaca gibiydi. Fakat sakin bir ekilde

    dnyann byk bulmacalarna cevap veriliyordu:

    niin mevsimler var? Niin yldzlar gkyznden

    dmyor?

    Ve daha biroklar. Adm adm labirentin sonuna

    geldiler ve byk srpriz onlar renkli ve harikatipik bir Portekiz horozu bekliyordu.

    Portekiz Barcelo horozuydu. Ve neeli bir ekilde;

    Tebrikler! Harikasnz! Bu yzden size bu mavi ve

    krmz kastanyetleri veriyorum.

    Kastanyetleri aldklarnda geleneksel ses yerine,

    byk bir tik tak! sesi ve bir ann tngrtsn

    duydular. Dikkatlice baktklarnda kastenyellerin

    ortasnda harika ngiliz eseri Big Beni grdler.Ve

    birdenbire baka bir lkeye nlandlar.

    As they landed on the

    ground they realised that

    they were in London,

    Englands capital city. What a fabulous place it was! In

    front of them was a huge tower with a clock on it and

    when it was time, a beautiful sound of bells could be

    heard all over the city.Mehmet and Aye couldnt believe how busy

    London was with big red buses and black taxis

    zooming past.

    They walked around the crowded streets and were

    amazed by the lights and sounds of the city. In the

    distance, near the flowing river Thames, they could see

    a strange wheel turning in the sky. It had coloured

    lights and pods where people sat to look at the view.

    As they got to the top of the wheel, they noticed a

    thing rolled up like a treasure map.

    They opened it and saw

    that it was a white flag

    with a blue cross on it.

    They heard the tapping

    sound of the castanets

    a nd the y found

    themselves in a strange

    and foreign land....

    Cnd au aterizat i-au dat seama c sunt n Londra, capitala Angliei. Ce loc extraordinar! n faa lor era

    un turn uria cu un ceas n vrf care la ore fixe cnta melodios.

    Lui Mehmet i Ayse nu le venea sa cread ce aglomerat era oraul: cu autobuze mari, roii i taxiuri

    negre care treceau n vitez pe lang ei. S-au plimbat pe strzile aglomerate i au fost uimii de luminile i

    sunetele oraului. Undeva n apropiere, lng rul Tamisa, au vzut o roat mare i ciudat. Avea luminie

    colorate i nite capsule din care oamenii puteau vedea panorama oraului. Cnd au ajuns n vrful roii , ei au

    observat ceva nfurat ca o hart a unei comori. Au desfcut-o i au vzut c era un steag alb cu o cruce

    albastr pe el. Ei au auzit sunetul castanietelor i s-au trezit ntr-o ar strin...

    Yere indiklerinde ngilterenin bakenti

    Londrada olduklarn fark ettiler. Ne ahane bir yer.

    nlerinde, zerinde saat olan byk bir kule vard ve

    zaman geldiinde zillerin gzel sesi tm ehirden

    duyulabiliyordu.

    Aye ve Mehmet Londrann krmz

    otobsler ve siyah taksilerin geileriyle bu kadar

    youn oluuna inanamadlar. Kalabalk sokaklarda

    yrdler, ehrin k ve sesleriyle bylendiler.

    Uzakta, akan Thames nehrinin yannda gkyznde

    dnen garip bir tekerlek grebiliyorlard. Renkli

    klar ve insanlarn manzara izlemek iin oturduklar

    blmeler vard. En tepeye ktklarnda, hazine

    haritas gibi sarlm bir ey fark ettiler. Onu atlar ve

    zerinde mavi ha olan beyaz bir bayrak grdler.

    Kastanyetlerin tkrtsn duydular. Kendilerini garipve yabanc bir diyarda buldular.

    Mehmed and Ayse stood in the market place. It was full of noisy, happy

    people. Some people had the same kind of white hats, some people had wigs on their

    heads and some people had a funny mask on their face. The finnish flag was flying in

    the flag-staff. There was a lot of things to buy; balloons, t-shirt, masks, food, sweets

    etc.

    Mehmed and Ayse felt hungry so they bought some mead and donuts. The salesman told them that the

    finns were having their May celebration.Mehmed and Ayse decided to buy a balloon. They chose a blue balloon with a picture of Moomin on it.

    The market place was crowded. Suddenly Mehmed stumbled and their beautiful balloon escaped into the

    sky...

    Mehmet i Ayse au ajuns ntr-o pia. Era

    plin de oameni bucuroi i glgioi. Aveau plrii

    albe de hrtie, unii purtau peruci i alii aveau mti pefee. Steagul Finlandei flutura pe un

    suport nalt n pia. Erau o mulime de

    lucruri ce se puteau cumpra de la

    vnztorii ambulani- tricouri, mncare,

    mti i baloane.

    Mehmet i Ayse au simit c le

    este foame i au cumprat nite carne i

    gogoi. Vnztorul le-a spus c

    finlandezii srbtoreau primvara, n

    luna mai.

    Cei doi copii au vrut s

    cumpere i un balon i au ales un balon

    albastru, cu imaginea lui Moomin.

    ntruct piaa era foarte aglomerat,

    copiii au scpat dintr-o dat balonul

    care a plutit uor catre cer...

    Mehmet ve Aye markette durdular. Buras neeli

    ve grltc insanlarla doluydu. Baz insanlar ayn tip

    beyaz apka giyiyorlard, bazlarnn balarnda peruk ve

    bazlarnn yznde komik maskeler vard. Fin bayra

    gnderde dalgalanyordu. Satn alnacak ok ey vard;

    balonlar, tirtler, maskeler, yiyecek, tatllar

    Mehmet ve Aye acktklarn hissettiler. Biraz

    bal likr ve rek satn aldlar. Satc onlara

    Finlandiyallarn Mays kutlamalar yaptklarn syledi.

    Mehmet ve Aye balon almaya karar verdiler.

    izgi kahraman) resmi olan mavi bir balon setiler.

    Market kalabalkt. Aniden Mehmet sendeledi ve gzel

    balonlar gkyzne doru utu.

    Suddenly, the balloon

    exploded and the castanets fell

    down from the sky. They heard

    the familiar sound of the casta-

    nets and everything began to change

    They were next to a stream of ice water. When

    they looked around them, there were only mountains.

    Mehmet was disappointed. Where was the road?They

    took a small trail and arrived in front of a house with a

    red roof. It was a school where they saw pupils learning

    multiplication.

    Ayse asked one pupil: Hello! Whats your name?

    My name is Jean-Franois. Where do you come from?

    They told him their story and asked,

    Where is the nearest road?

    o t marmail! Na point de route!

    Mehmet and Ayse didnt understand anything. Then theteacher explained to them that there was no road to

    Mafate, but they could take the helicopter.

    They got into the helicopter which flew over the

    island. During their journey they saw a volcano, Cilaos,

    Salazie The helicopter left them in Etang Sals forest.

    They heard some music and headed towards the musi-

    cians.

    Would you like to play some music? asked one musi-

    cian, giving them a package.

    When Ayse and Mehmet opened the packagethey were surprised to see the castanets. They were blue,

    red and white. Suddenly, the white became yellow and

    everything began to revolve around them and the forest

    disappeared

    rencileri grdler. Aye bir renciye sordu.:

    Merhaba! Adn ne?

    Benim adm Jean-Franois. Nereden geliyorsunuz?

    Ona hikayelerini anlattlar ve sordular

    en yakn yol nerede?

    o t marmail! Na point de route!

    Mehmet ve Aye hibir ey anlamadlar

    sonra retmen onlara Mafateye yol olmadnancak helikoptere binebileceklerini aklad.

    Helikoptere bindiler ve aday geerek utular.

    Yolculuklar boyunca Cilaos, Salazie volkann gr-

    doru yneldiler.

    ve mavi, krmz ve beyaz renkteydiler. Aniden,

    beyaz sarya dnt ve etrfalarndaki hereyfarkl eylere dnmeye balad ve orman orta-

    dan kayboldu.

    Deodat balonul a explodat i castanietele au czut din cer. Ei au auzit sunetul

    familiar al castanietelor i totul a inceput s se schimbe...

    Erau lng un izvor cu ap rece, s-au uitat n jurul lor: erau numai muni. Mehmet era

    dezamgit: unde era drumul?

    Au luat-o pe o mic crare i au ajuns n faa unei case cu acoperi rou. Era o

    coala i au vzut elevii fcnd nmuliri. Ayse a ntrebat un copil:

    -Cum te cheam?-Numele meu este Jean-Francois. De unde venii?

    Copiii le-au spus povestea lor i i-au ntrebat:

    Unde este drumul cel mai apropiat?

    -O te marmail! Na point de route!

    Mehmet i Ayse nu au neles nimic. Apoi profesorul le-a explicat c nu existau drumuri spre Mafate, dar ar

    putea s plece cu elicopterul.

    Au urcat n elicopter, care i-a plimbat deasupra insulei: au vzut un vulcan, Cilaos, Salazie... Elicopterul i-a lsat

    n padurea Etang Sale. Au auzit muzic i s-au ndreptat spre cntrei.

    -Vrei s cntai? i-a ntrebat unul dintre ei i le-a dat un pachet.Erau castanietele, care acum aveau culoarea albastr, roie i alb.

    Deodat, albul devenea galben, totul se nvrtea n jurul lor i pdurea disprea...

    they found themselves on a little ship on the Black Sea. The journey continued on

    one of the three arms of the DANUBE. They reached the DANUBE DELTA, an

    enchanting land with pelicans voices and the gentle caress of the reed. Then the ship

    took them further along the Danube.

    Suddenly they heard music so they left the ship. To their delight, Ayse and Mehmet discovered the

    fascinating and spectacular dance of the CLUARI.They were in OLTENIA.

    In the distance the tall mountains seemed inviting. A winding road, the TRANSFGRAN, cutthrough the mountains and could carry them to wonderful places. Here, history was hidden in palaces, castles

    and monasteries. BRAN CASTLE, the PELE CASTLE and the VORONE MONASTERY, they all talked

    about the sensitivity and bravery of this little country.

    After following the road through the mountains and discovering all the wonderful places along the

    way, a melancholic Romanian folk song led them back to the seaside.

    Here, stood the statue of the great poet MIHAI EMINESCU, as if whispering a love poem to the sea. Near the

    statue, the children found the colored castanets, which were now red and had a white half moon and a little

    star on them. With their clicking sound, they seemed to accompany the seas love poem an the children began

    to feel dizzy. Magically the children found themselves in the forest of atalca, again, in the middle of their

    friends. Mehmet and Ayse rushed over to their families. They hoped they hadnt missed the picnic!

    de fonetul trestiilor. Au continuat drumul lor pe Dunre ctre locuri i oameni noi.

    Deodat au auzit muzic i au cobort de pe vapor.

    Mehmet i Ayse au descoperit dansul uimitor al cluarilor, cci se aflau ntr-o zon din Oltenia.

    n deprtare munii falnici preau s invite la drumeii aa c cei doi au pornit s cerceteze. Un drum erpuitor,

    Transfgranul, tia cu precizie munii impuntori, ducndu-i n locuri ncrcate de istorie i tradiii- castele,

    fortree i biserici. Castelul Bran, Peleul i Mnstirile Vorone i Putna le-au dezvluit bogii culturale i

    informaii extraordinare despre curajul i sensibilitatea acestui popor. Apoi, au auzit un cntec popular, care i -a

    condus napoi pe malul Mrii Negre. Acolo, pe falez au gsit statuia marelui poet Mihai Eminescu, care prea

    s opteasc un poem de dragoste mrii. Lng statuie, copiii au gsit castanietele care erau acum roii i aveau o

    lun i o stea galben pe ele. n sunetul lor magic i cu vuietul mrii aproape, copiii s-au simit deodat ameii...

    Ca prin minune, ei s-au trezit nconjurai de prietenii lor, n pdurea din Catalca.S-au grbit s ajung

    napoi la familiile lor, spernd c nu pierduser picnicul.

    Kendilerini Karadenizde kk bir gemide buldular. Yolculuklar Danubenin kolundan birine

    kadar devam etti. Pelikan sesleri ve kamlarn nazik okaylaryla mest olarak Danube Deltasna ulatlar.

    Gemi onlar daha uzaklara gtrd.

    Aniden, mzii duydular ve gemiden ayrldlar. Etkileyici ve harikulade CLUARI dansn kefettiler.

    OLTENIAdalard.

    Uzaktan yce dalar davetkar gzkyordu.. rzgarl bir yol, TRANSFGRAN, dalar aarak onlar

    harika yerlere gtrd. Burada, tarih saraylarda, kalelerde ve manastrlarda gizliydi. Bran Kalesi, PELE

    Kalesi, ve VORONET Manastr, hepsi bu kk lkenin kahramanln ve hassasiyetini anlatyordu.

    Hznl bir halk arks onlar deniz kysna geri gtrd. Burada, byk air Mihai EMINESCUnun heykeli

    denize bir ak arks fsldyordu. Heykelin yannda, ocuklar renkli kastanyetleri buldular. Kastanyetler imdi

    krmzyd ve zerinde yarm ay ve kk bir yldz vard. Kastanyetlerin sesiyle denizin ak arksna elik

    ettiler ve kendilerini yeniden atalca ormannda arkadalarnn arasnda buldular.

    The Secret Of The Forest which tells the adventures of twochildren called Aye and Mehmet was written by collaboration of pupils from

    seven countries: Turkey, Spain, Portugal, UK, Finland,Reunion and Romania.

    This story is the reflection of the rainbow which comes out with the meeting of

    different cultures.
