Turkish Foundry Association - TÜDÖKSAD

Turkish Foundry Association (TÜDÖKSAD) is founded in 1976 by leading found-ry industrialists and companies with the aim of providing support to enhance the economic progress of the metal casting industry and assisting its member companies (metal casting facilities, die casters and industry suppliers) to effectively manage all production operations and profitably market their products and services.

TÜDÖKSAD is a non-governmental organization with voluntary membership and rep-resents the leading firms, industrialists and managers of the casting/foundry business world. Our association, having all of the largest foundries and most of the small-me-dium foundry enterprises as our members, embodies Turkish Foundry Industry. As of April 2017, we have 151 member companies and 245 industrialists and managers.

Turkish foundry sector is actively represented by TÜDÖKSAD in national and interna-tional platforms. TÜDÖKSAD promotes the interests of the metal casting industry in front of the related executive branches of the government. TÜDOKSAD members are actively participating in sectional committees and decision making bodies in national chambers of commerce and industry, hence contributing to the shaping of the nation-al policies and priorities affecting the foundry industry.

Since 1989 TÜDÖKSAD is a member of the World Foundry Organization (WFO). In 2007, it became a member of the European Foundry Association (CAEF), the organi-zation of the European foundry industry unity.

TÜDÖKSAD also supports the biannual Ankiros, Annofer TürkCast and Aluexpo fairs.

As a result of the prominent role and representing power of our association con-cerning the foundry industry, in 1995 we have been entitled by a governmental decree, to use “Türkiye - Turkish” in our official name, where the official acronym TÜDÖKSAD comes from - Türkiye Döküm Sanayicileri Derneği).

Turkish Foundry Sector

Turkish foundry sector acts an important role in world casting production, as well as it is in Europe. If we evaluate the numbers of casting production in 2015, after Germany and Italy, Turkey has taken 3rd place in Europe. According to AFS’s 50th Census of World Casting Production, which was published in December 2016 issue, Turkish foundry industry production in 2015 constitutes 1,8 % of the world production. Accordingly, Turkey’s global ranking is 10.

The Turkish foundry production of 1.900.000 tons and valuation 4 billion Euros in 2016 is produced by 928 foundries operated in the country (not yet approved datas). The Turkish foundry export value reaches above 2,7 billion Euros with export volume over 1.000.000 tons in 2016. There are 34.000 employees in the sector. Most of the production in the foundry sector was made by private owner companies.

Foreign investment in Turkish foundry industry is below the expected level. There are 6 foreign investors operating in the sector (Nemak, Çelik Granül, Componenta, Maxion, Federal Mogul and Schweiser). Componenta from Finland owns the shares of the largest iron and aluminum automotive foundry and Maxion has a partnership with a local company producing aluminum wheels. In 2016, Nemak, one of the leading aluminium casting suppliers in the world, has acquired 100% share of the Cevher Alu-minium foundry. There are new supplier investors in foundry sector such as Inducto-therm, Heraus Electro-Nite, Elkem, MineralsTech, Imerys, Magma, Hüttenes Albertus, Vesuvius-Foseco, ASK Chemicals.

TÜDÖKSAD by numbers

115 TÜDOKSAD member foundries account for 85 % percent of Turkish total foundry output and they realize 90 % export of the Turkish castings.Iron foundries (68) produce %70 of all iron castings in Turkey and export %85 of all iron castings from Turkey.Steel foundries (32) produce %90 of all steel castings in Turkey and export %98 of all steel castings from Turkey.Non ferrous foundries (31) produce %80 of non ferrous castings in Turkey and export %90 of all non ferrous castings from Turkey.Investment Casting Foundries (6) produce %98 of all investment castings in Turkey and export %95 of all investment castings from Turkey.Foundry Suppliers and Associate Members (36) All of the leading raw and auxiliary material producers, equipment and machinery suppliers and engineering and service representing companies are also members of TÜDÖKSAD.
