What lies behind …

MN7 can refer to a long and successful history and its main expertise is the result of combining all aspects of oil and gas field development with the power of big data.

Through our exclusive drilling and well services partner RAG.Energy.Drilling (RED) we provide our clients the Best in Class integrated drilling services. RED is a spin-off company from the very first Austrian oil and gas production and exploration company Rohöl-Aufsuchungs Gesellschaft (RAG) established in 1935, but with roots reaching back to the nineteenth century. Over the past decades RAG managed to prevail on the market despite two world wars, several economic crises and oil price shocks. RAG builds their success on flexible and sustainable management with a strong focus on their human resources and all stakeholders. This is also the very reason why RAG operates, as one of the last operators in the western world, its own rigs and is able to execute all phases of a field development project from seismic data processing, over project planning, drilling, completing and testing, production, workover and finally abandonment on their own. Compared to other operators, RAG always performs best when it comes to HSEQ, operational efficiency, equipment lifetime and production efficiency due to its strong in-house knowledge. With more than 80 years of drilling experience and more than 1,100 wells drilled in the highly demanding area of Central Europe, RED serves the European market with two modern rigs and its own crews and engineering teams. It is headquartered in Austria and operates under the highest national and international standards (SCC**, ISO 14001) with clients from national and international oil and gas companies like Austrian OMV and German Wintershall. Also energy providers as well as public institutions and communities are served. By 2014 an average of 13 wells per year were drilled. RED reached the highest total amount of meters drilled in a year with around 66,000 metres in the year 2010. In addition to conventional oil and gas exploration and production wells and gas storage wells, also highly deviated, horizontal and extended reach (ERD) wells have been drilled, as well as landmark geothermal projects have been executed. RED owned and operated surface test equipment is used on many wells to conduct open hole tests in order to obtain information on the size of the gas, oil or water resources and therefore determine the economic viability for production.

What sets MN7 apart is the pursuit for transition from experienced driven to fact based decision making. Therefore data analytics plays an important role in all phases of project assessment, planning and execution. TDE and RED combine their Austrian data handling and processing capacities with data centres in Vienna, Graz and Leoben to deliver optimum insights to what is buried deep below the surface. The design and planning of the certain wells to assess feasibility is the next step in the run up to a field development project and the point at which well objectives are agreed upon, in collaboration with the customer, to achieve the optimum technical and commercial solution with respect to the environmental conditions and economic restraints.It is here where a project‘s success can be predetermined and MN7 internally applies an agile project management system within a gate process. This assures top quality with maximum flexibility in order to meet our client‘s needs. A project proposal has to pass three gates in order to proceed to the execution phase. All of these gates demand high quality standards and an increasing level of detail. Once the third gate is passed, the responsible Drilling Engineer will be involved throughout the execution phase of the project.

Rigsite Engineering and Construction

RED has decades of experience when it comes to optimal placement and design of rigsite locations. Whether they are located in the countryside or in a town, all considerations are covered and handled by the Well Engineering and Civil Engineering team. We will assess the infrastructure in place in order to tackle any logistical problems and ensure optimum placement and layout of the rigsite. RED has a proven track record of negotiating successfully with local authorities and land owners in order to provide the best setup for the rig and the local community to minimize the impact on their day to day lives. Furthermore with the last drilling operation completed the renaturation of the site already begins. We manage all the services necessary to leave a minimum footprint on surface and an optimum workspace for future workover operations for producer wells.

RAG.Energy.Drilling with its more than 80 years of experience and a track record of more than 1,100 wells drilled and a total drilled depth of more than two million meters has an unmatched expertise in executing drilling operations. All types of wells were drilled, from conventional oil and gas exploration and development wells, water wells, geothermal wells, storage wells up to highly complex extended reach and multi-lateral wells. RED drilled down to 4,600 m depth and drilled horizontal sections with a step out of up to 3,500 m. Our excellent integrated services are a result of decades of continuous improvement and focus on human resources.

MN7 offers two rigs for executing drilling operations within a Turnkey Project Solution contract or for training purposes. These are fully equipped Bentec rigs which are rated up to 300 metric tonnes hookload, capable of drilling wells down to 5,500 m depth. With RED’s Best In Class crew and experienced proNova coaches, contracted drilling crews are trained and certified to our standard prior to any operations for MN7.

Operations Supervision

We provide very experienced supervisors to control daily rig activity during all phases of rig operations. These personnel are available to be contracted to take over the daily running of any customer’s rig operations. With their extensive experience from an integrated services provider standpoint and high level training they are capable of making first-rate, 24 hour real time decisions during operations, ensure all safety procedures are carried out in accordance with regulations and report daily on the progress of the well.

Drilling Optimization

To further enhance the drilling performance of a project, a specialist engineer can monitor the conditions and drilling parameters remotely or on location in order to ensure the best rate of penetration is achieved while maintaining good hole cleaning and downhole conditions. Directional performance can also be monitored in order to ensure the actual wellpath is drilled as effectively as possible. Advanced software from proNova is used to monitor torque, drag and hydraulic trends, enabling us not only to improve performance but moreover to reduce risk for drilling problems and even enhance wellbore quality.

Rig Move Optimization

Another distinctive key feature of MN7 is the strong focus on rig move optimization. proNova Rig Move On Paper© is the key to reduce rig move time by up to 50%. This significantly adds to a rig‘s utilization rate and leads in the end to more wells drilled in a certain time ultimately accelerating the client‘s field development.

RED has extensive experience in completion and artificial lift design, well services and well testing with a track record of more than 300 well completions for oil, gas, storage and injection wells. More than 650 Wireline and Slickline operations were executed from 2010 and open hole testing is an integral part of our service portfolio. This allows us to improve daily meterage while at the same time enhance wellbore quality and safety on the rig site. Wells are completed faster, leading to earlier production and more ultimate recovery.

At the core proNova deals with the drilling data during the actual well construction execution itself. It is designated to the translation of large sensor data streams into valuable information in real-time and 24/7 to support objective decision making. proNova introduced first the concept of Invisible Lost Time to the oil and gas industry. The total well construction time may be divided into:

BOBT – Bit On Bottom Time is the time needed when actually drilling and

producing hole

FLAT – Flat Time is the necessary time needed for constructing a well besides

the BOBT (BHA handling, tripping, running casing, BOP work etc.)

LT – Lost Time is the deviation from plan due to unexpected/unplanned events

like hole problems, tool failures, rig repair etc.

ILT – Invisible Lost Time is defined as the difference between actual operation

duration and a best practice or benchmark performance (inefficient rig floor

operations, underperforming drilling crew, etc.)

proNova ILT Measurement and Reporting Services make use of our capability to process large volumes of data streams in an automated and cost effective way. These services can be applied to any rig operation worldwide without the need of personnel or equipment at the rig site itself. Furthermore these services are fully web-based thus being IT infrastructure independent (no additional software or hardware installations). There is also no need to have a Real Time Operating Centre (RTOC) operational at the client’s offices in order to run proNova and make use of its benefits.

proNova LT Reporting and Lessons Learned Services is the key to fully unlocking the value of improvement services for the entire well delivery cycle. It shines the light on the major contributors to AFE and Well Construction Efficiency. The service focus is on the critical elements of activities which deviate from plan and are categorised as Lost Time. The service provides detailed analysis and breakdown of waste under the categories of Equipment, Well, Process and Safety & Environment. Engineering Workshops

We offer workshops in well design, BHA and bit selection, drilling programme establishment, project scheduling, risk assessment, basic geomechanics, completions and workover design. Our experienced engineers and senior supervisors are pleased to share their wide knowledge on this highly demanding realm.

Drill Well On Paper courses are at the very basis of these workshops and the participants will learn how to face drilling problems prior to spudding the well.

Well Intervention Training

Our senior workover experts give dedicated courses in well intervention planning and execution jobs. From selecting well intervention candidates, over planning the operations and executing them in an efficient way, our trainers guide the participants through this demanding topic.

Offset Well Analysis and Benchmarking Workshops

This is a multidisciplinary workshop where senior drilling engineers and senior data analysts forward the power of data to the participants. It facilitates the transition from experience based to data-driven planning, where the participants will learn

how to structure historical data from final well reports, morning reports,

BHA records, bit records, etc. in order to analyse them efficiently,

how to compare the historical data and establish a benchmark for new

well projects,

how to revise well designs and drilling programmes based on findings,

how to establish a risk assessment for new projects based on historical

data,

and in the end how to plan for the new projects properly.

Performance Driller Training

This training is especially aimed for the drillers on the brake handle or joystick and tool pushers. Basic physics and geology build the basis of this course and the aim is to give the driller an understanding of the influencing factors to achieve fast ROP while in the same time improving well bore quality and reducing the risk of drilling problems. Performance Roughneck Training

Repeatable manual processes present a very major time consumer in any drilling project. These training courses will train participants to become Performance Roughnecks. The main training includes Efficient Tripping, Efficient Drilling Connections, Efficient Casing Running, Rig Floor Organisation and Operational Awareness.

Participants learn how to use proNova for optimizing their rig moves. proNova monitors and analyzes rig moves and quantifies the Invisible Lost Time and Lost Time within. During the workshop the participants use this information to find the critical path of the operation and to build an optimized rig move schedule without waste. At the end they can utilize this knowledge for their projects and improve the company’s performance by drilling more wells in a certain time.
