rest or begin exploring the city. Tonight, join your Tour Director for a special WELCOME DINNER including wine. (D)

DAY 3 – OCTOBER 2 (Sunday) – Montecatini – Excursion to FlorenceAll day is dedicated to Florence, “Cradle of the Renaissance.” Follow your Local Guide to the ACADEMY OF FINE ARTS

with Michelangelo’s celebrated David and the magnificent CATHEDRAL. Admire Giotto’s Bell Tower, the Baptistry’s heavy

bronze “Gate of Paradise,” and sculpture-studded SIGNORIA SQUARE. There is time for independent sightseeing and

browsing through the shops. Florentine leather goods and gold jewelry sold by the ounce are attractive buys. Later, visit

VERRAZZANO CASTLE, located on a hilltop in the heart of Chianti Classico country. Hear about the fine art of blending

four types of grapes to obtain the famous Chianti. (B)

DAY 4 - OCTOBER 3 (Monday) – MontecatiniA full day at leisure in Montecatini. An optional excursion to Lucca or Pisa will be available. (B)

DAY 5 - OCTOBER 4 (Tuesday) – Montecatini – Excursion to San GimignanoFirst travel to San Gimignano, one of Italy’s perfectly preserved medieval towns. Its squares, town walls, streets, alleyways,

and 14 towers make it unique. Your Tour Director will give you time in the town center to browse on your own. Look

This morning, depart for Rome. After checking into your hotel, meet

your Local Guide and visit the BASILICA OF ST. PAUL OUTSIDE-

THE-WALLS, the reported burial site of the St. Paul and later, the

CATACOMBS. Tonight is yours to enjoy Rome at leisure. Perhaps a

visit to Trevi Fountain or the Spanish steps?

DAY 2OCTOBER 9 (Sunday) – Rome

Sightseeing with your Local Guide starts with a visit to the VATICAN

MUSEUMS and SISTINE CHAPEL, world famous for Michelangelo’s

ceiling paintings. Continue to monumental ST. PETER’S SQUARE and

BASILICA. Cross the Tiber and visit the COLOSSEUM and the ROMAN

FORUM, where Roman legions marched in triumph. Then, time for

independent activities and exciting optional excursion possibilities.

DAY 3OCTOBER 10 (Monday) – Rome

A full day at leisure to explore Rome. Later this afternoon, leave

Rome for a guided visit of the famous VILLA ADRIANA or the VILLA

D’ESTE GARDENS and FOUNTAINS in Tivoli, followed by a typical

country-style dinner with wine, spumante, and music to cap off a

wonderful Italian vacation. (Breakfast, Dinner)
