Introduction

• The term pharaoh was the title given to an ancient Egyptian kings, such as Tutankhamun. An ancient Egyptian king, or pharaoh, was considered to be a living god and worshipped as a divine being. The pharaoh was an absolute ruler of Egypt and both the political and religious leader.

The Death of A Pharaoh

• There is no positive evidence on Tutankhamun's mummy as to how he met his death.

• During an x-ray of the mummy in 1968, scientists found bone fragments in Tut's skull, prompting a sensational theory that the boy king had been by a heavy impact to death.

• Another recent theory is that King Tutankhamun wasn't murdered after all, but died from a broken leg. According to National Geographic

• There was a conflict between archaeologists about Tutankhamun achievements; they broke into two group’s the first group mention in specific details Tutankhamun achievements; and the second group said he was famous for his golden tomb ONLY.

The fist group of archaeologist• He built things at Karnack and Luxor.• At Luxor he continued the construction of the entrance colonnades of Amenhotep

III's temple. (The famous picture of Luxor where you see all the pillars is the entrance is colonnade that Tutankhamen mostly started, decorated and finished.)

• He richly beautifies the temples with images of Amun, Amunet, and Khonsu.• Even more statues and sphinxes characterize Tutankhamen himself.• A small temple in Nubia.• A pair of granite lions.• He restored the religion of the Old Gods to Egypt and reopened closed temples of

• Because Tutankhamun died at such a young age, his major accomplishments are considered next to nothing. He did not build any great pyramids or fall responsible for any of Egypt’s turmoil. He is most well-known for his tomb, which was discovered in 1922. His tomb and the discovery are the most famous because of the fact that it had remained virtually untouched since it was closed

Thebes, the traditional burial place of his ancestors. The person responsible for his burial, and shown on one of the walls in Tutankhamun's tomb, was Ay who succeeded him on the Egyptian throne.

The small tomb contained hundreds of objects (now housed in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo); many richly decorated and covered in gold that would be needed by the king in his afterlife.• Tutankhamun's Treasures • Over 3,000 treasures were placed in the tomb to help Tutankhamen in his

afterlife, and the walls of the burial chamber were painted with scenes of his voyage to the afterworld.
