    Tutorial Week 2

    Group Members: Ariff, Ayu, Tasha, Waan

    People Roles

    Parents 1. Be a role model for learning.

    2. Parents are their children's first teachers exploring nature,

    reading together, cooking together, and counting together.

    3. The parent's job is to show him how school can extend the

    learning you began together at home, and how exciting and

    meaningful this learning can be.

    4. To become their children's learning coaches. Through

    guidance and reminders, parents help their kids organize their

    time and support their desires to read.

    5. Set aside time to read together.

    6. Read aloud regularly, even to older kids. If your child is a

    reluctant reader, reading aloud will expose her to the structure

    and vocabulary of good literature and get her interested inreading more.

    Siblings 1. To encourage siblings to read.

    2. To motivate them to read by showing the siblings which

    books are interested and best for their level.

    3. Older children, despite the age difference, always serve as

    role models and teachers in a variety of pro-social skills,

    such as helping, sharing, and cooperation.

    As the older siblings, they can show a good attitude and

    encourage the children to read.

    Teachers 1. To have an attitude and beliefs that children can be

    taught to read.

    Teachers make a difference in the success of their students when

    they hold a fundamental belief that all children can learn to read and

    when they have the skills and determination to make it happen.

    2. To provide organized and interesting learning of reading

    in classroom.

    These teachers base their classroom practices on sound reading

    theory, provide instruction that meets the specific learning needs of

    their students, create an organized and stimulating learning

    environment, and regularly assess their students' reading

    achievement.

    3. To provide knowledge and skills

    4. To encourage children to use their prior knowledge, and

    provide them with appropriate background information if they

    lack context for understanding text.

    5. To motivate children to read.

    Teachers have a pivotal role in helping children to develop

    and maintain a positive attitude towards learning and literacy.

    Motivated readers read more, use more complex cognitive

    strategies, and thus become better readers.

    Peers 1. To encourage friends to read.

    2. To motivate them to read by showing friends which books are

    interested and best for their level.

    3. Older friend, despite the age difference, always serve as role

    models and teachers in a variety of pro-social skills, such as

    helping, sharing, and cooperation.

    As the older friends, they can show a good attitude and

    encourage the other friends to read.
