Grand Designs: South East London

Sunday, 26 July 2015

Film props buyer Tracy Fox and her scenic artist husband Steve want to build an ‘urban shed’ out of corrugated cement board and panels of polycarbonate sheeting. Having discovered an old milk yard tucked away behind some flats and shops in their beloved South East London, their long held desire to build a highly unconventional family home and workspace was kick started.

Their choice of industrial style materials rarely used before in houses proves more than just aesthetically challenging and the yard remains untouched for over a year until they meet Romas and Remi, a young firm of builders who boldly decide to take on the challenge of building it for just £3000,000.

As the shed-like house takes shape, Steve and Tracy are forced to make design compromises to keep the budget under control. It’s a huge struggle, but Tracy and Steve are determined to keep faith with the minimalist industrial design they’ve set their hearts on.

How Not To Behave

Wednesday, 29 July 2015

Gretel Killeen and Matt Okine host the new 15-part comedy entertainment series HOW NOT TO BEHAVE, produced by Screentime, a Banijay Group company, for ABC TV.

In which parts of a change room is it okay to walk around naked? What’s the tooth fairy’s going rate? Is it ever okay to pick up at a funeral? Should you discipline other people’s kids; dump a partner by text; or have the in-laws on Skype while your partner is giving birth?

From dinner parties to supermarkets, the workplace to the gym, Gretel Killeen and Matt Okine will escort you through the unwritten rules and necessities of modern society.

Each episode tests the boundaries of a familiar theme providing a ‘how-to’ guide for all of us, offering solutions to our social shortcomings once and for all.

Part comedy, part social anthropology... HOW NOT TO BEHAVE is like Seinfeld meets Attenborough.HOW NOT TO BEHAVE is a Screentime, a Banijay Group company, production for ABC TV, executive produced by Sophia Mogford (Hamish & Andy’s Gap Year) and Screentime’s Jennifer Collins (Stop Laughing…this is serious), with ABC TV executive producer Sophia Zachariou (The Checkout).

Julia Zemiro's Home Delivery: Ita Buttrose

Wednesday, 29 July 2015

Ita - no surname required - has been involved in the media since the age of 16. The daughter of an ‘old-school’ journo and newspaperman, Ita takes Julia back to where she grew up in the garden wonderland of Parsley Bay in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs.

The only girl in a family of boys, Ita says that battling with her brothers stood her in great stead for mixing in with the men throughout her media career.

Ita and Julia visit the site of her original home and sit below the gum tree where she played as a child. Then they are off to her favourite spot by the bay where she reveals that her parents’ marriage was a stormy one, and ultimately her mother was very unhappy. But she says it taught her a lesson about self-reliance and to not depend on others too much.

They visit what was once Dover Heights Home Economics School for Girls, now Rose Bay Secondary College, where, as they visit her old classrooms Ita reflects on editing Cleo and the Australian's Women's Weekly. She reveals that she is still as passionate about journalism and broadcasting as she was as a sixteen-year-old copygirl.

Joined by Ita's beloved dog, Cleo, they wander through Centennial Park where Ita chats about being single, public advocacy, her relationship with Kerry Packer, and her commitment to positive ageing.

Who's Been Sleeping In My House?: Merton

Thursday, 30 July 2015 New SeriesFor the third season, presenter, archaeologist Adam Ford returns to investigate the remarkable hidden histories behind the place we call home.

Adam is invited into homes across Australia to reveal the histories of the people who once lived there. Between the bricks and mortar of every old house there’s a tale to tell and Ford takes the viewer on an investigative journey to separate fact from fiction and find the truth behind rumours and mysteries associated with each home.

Highlights of this season include: a Perth home which played a crucial role in the defence of Australia during World War II; a Queenslander rooted in an emotive history Australia would rather forget; the story of a mysterious Royal who was locked up for several years; a house which has been home to hundreds; the tale of a revered mystical Muslim who allegedly cured Adelaide's incurable; and a Victorian house which offers up rare new evidence of a shooting that has all the hallmarks of Ned Kelly.

This season puts the rich and important history of ordinary Australians in the spotlight and uncovers extraordinary stories that have never been told.

Glitch

Thursday, 30 July 2015

Bored at the hideout, teenager Kirstie (Hannah Monson) recklessly leads Charlie (Sean Keenan) to a wild paddock party that’s started up near the property. Kirstie drinks and flirts and wanders off with a boy, trying to recapture the life of a normal teenager. Charlie worries for her and, when she disappears from his view, he runs to find James (Patrick Brammal) for help. They locate a visibly shaken Kirstie by the lake – she now remembers she was murdered.

Meanwhile, Vic (Andrew McFarlane) convinces Maria that Elishia (Genevieve O’Reilly) is lying to her so she agrees to take him to see the rest of the group. James spends an intimate night with Kate and returns home full ofguilt, and lies to Sarah (Emily Barclay).

Beau (Aaron McGrath) is brought into the police station with his mum Kath (Lisa Flanagan) and questioned by Chris (John Leary) about the Fitzgerald mansion break in. Beau tries to keep Paddy’s (Ned Dennehy) identity secret but, when the police threaten him with a stint in juvenile detention, Beau tells them about Paddy, the Irish guy that’s come back from gold-mining days, and claims to be the mayor.

James goes to the station to get Kirstie’s case file and Chris tells him about Beau’s laughable story of the Irish mayor who is back from the dead. James says he’ll check it out and takes off to find Paddy. Back at the property Kate’s fixed up an old trail bike she found and, emotionally wrung-out, decides to take off. James and Sarah (Emily Barclay) wake up to discover Kate at their front door.

The entire Glitch series - all six episodes - will be available to watch on ABC iview. It’s a bold new drama delivered to audiences in a bold new way.
