Gospel: Luke 14:1, 7-14 Jesus went to share a meal with one of the leading Pharisees when he noticed other guests competing for places of honor at the table. He warned that a guest who takes the place of honor may be asked to move to the lowest place. Yet a guest who takes the lowest place is honored when a better position is offered by their host. He then added, "He who humbles himself will be exalted." ©2000 Bon Venture Services, Inc. Promises of the Rosary

Fourteen of Fifteen Promises

14. All who recite the Rosary are my Sons, and brothers of my Only Son Jesus Christ. Since the Rosary is a most excellent prayer focused on Jesus and His Life and activities in salvation history, it brings us closer to Our Lord and Our Lady. Doctrinally, Our Lady is our Mother and Jesus is our Eldest Brother, besides being our God. (see Lumen Gentium chapter VIII - Our Lady #62)

Page 5 HOLY LAND CHRISTIAN ART

September 7 & 8 - Memorial Hall Holy Land Christian Art featuring olive-wood handcrafted

from the Holy Land, a traditional Art and livelihood for Holy Land Christians will be available for purchase following all Masses in Memorial Hall on September 7 & 8. Many Holy Land Christians in the Bethlehem area alone rely upon income

generated from this art form. Local Catholic artisans carve the items. Many families are facing critical situations. Without income, Artisans leave their tradition art and trade and emigrate with their families to find relief from the difficult conditions of their homeland. Christian’s presence in the Holy Land has extended from Pentecost to the present. Sixty-five years ago, Christians represented more than 28% of the population and now represent less than 2%. The loss of the Christians in the Land of Christianity’s birth will represent a tragedy of immeasurable proportions for all Christians worldwide. Thank you for your vital support for this Christian Tradition and in protecting this very important culture and industry.
