Diocesan Policy: Report and Inform

The Diocese of Evansville has in place a policy that requires

that any allegation of child abuse must be reported to civil au-

thorities. If an allegation involves the sexual abuse of a minor

by diocesan personnel, the Victims Assistance Coordinator must

also be informed.

Sexual misconduct violates human dignity and the mission of

the church. The spiritual well-being of all victims, their fami-

lies, and others in the community is of particular concern to the

church.

Report child abuse:

Every allegation of child abuse must be reported to Child Pro-

tection Services, an agency of Indiana state government.

CPS Toll-free: (800) 800 5556 Local law enforcement: 9-1-1

Report and inform:

In the event of an allegation of sexual abuse of a minor (a per-

son under 18) by diocesan personnel, report the allegation to

authorities, and inform the Victims Assistance Coordinator for

the diocese:

Toll-free: (866) 200-3004 Local: (812) 490-9565

St. Mary Parish will be doing a “homemade dressing” fund-

raiser for the Ireland Bicentennial. We are taking orders for

dressing that we will be making in November. Please keep us in

mind when ordering dressing for the holidays. We know it is

early but we wanted to get the word out. We will be needing

clean gallon ice cream buckets. These can be dropped off at the

parish office.

Dear Parishioners,

As we prepare for our Parish Picnic I ask that you do three things. First pray, second invite family and friends and finally volunteer. I will roll

up the shirt sleeves, sweat a little and help out. Know that it is a Parish event and we need everyone to help. If you have not already signed up

come into the Parish Office or call and we can help find you a task to assist with OUR Picnic.

Our Parish Picnic is our largest fundraising event. It is through these efforts that we are able to do the ministry we do here at St. Mary. I en-

courage you to do the same roll up your shirt sleeves and get involved. I hope that we have more people, more quilts, more food, more profits

and a whole lot of FUN!! Join us on September 13th and spread the word, invite your family and friends to our Picnic.

Summer Picnic Prayer

Heavenly Father, we give you praise and thanksgiving for all that you have given us. We look forward to a day for worship, work fellowship

and good times.

Our prayer at this time of year, when we come together for our Parish Picnic, is to ask you to bless our gathering with your beautiful sunshine.

We pray for a good response from our workers, parishioners, and your whole community of faith.

We ask you to guide us to do the very best to make our social a success. We place our faith in your hands, through Christ our Lord, Amen. God Bless, Father Gary

Sponsor Couples - We are looking for couples who would be willing to talk to engaged couples about life as a married cou-ple. We currently have some couples within our parish who have already volunteered but are looking for more couples to step up and help us out. You do not meet with them every week or even every month and you will have a book to help with your sessions. Please consider volunteering for this min-istry - there are a lot of weddings on the books for 2015 & 2016 so lots of help is needed. Call the parish office for more information.

Have you ever been interested in joining the Catholic Church or

have a friend or relative who might be interested? The RCIA

(Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is a process whereby

people gather to explore the Catholic faith and make a decision

whether or not they would like to be initiated into full commun-

ion with the church. Classes will be starting soon. For more

info or to get registered, call Martha at (812) 482-7041, ext 45.

Share Your Ideas!! There will be a new booth this year at the

picnic promoting the Ireland Vision Plan. The Dubois County

Community Foundation has give the town of Ireland a grant to

partner with Taylor Siefker Williams Design Group, a city plan-

ning firm, to help create a long term community plan in honor of

Ireland’s Bicentennial coming in 2016. Stop by sometime dur-

ing the St. Mary Picnic to share your thoughts, ideas, and con-

cerns with Ireland now and for the future. The more people

share, the better the plan will be. Thanks.

Thanks to everyone who brought dishes to our recent funerals.

The parish appreciates your stewardship and thoughtfulness as well

as the families who were served. Because of picnic, these dishes

have to be moved out of the cafeteria. Please check the parish of-

fice porch for your dish. After several weeks, if they are not

claimed and they do not have a name on them, they will be donated

to another organization. Thanks again for your help with funeral

meals.

Michael L Oeding

Please remember Michael and his family in your prayers……..

Catechist Corner

Would you like to grow in your faith, learn the teachings of our church and deepen your relationship with Jesus?

Consider being a catechist! Previous teaching experience is not necessary and lesson plans are prepared for you. Don’t be afraid that you don’t know every detail of your faith - part of being a catechist involves openness to learning as you teach. As a Cate-chist you not only help our youth grow in their faith, you too will grow in yours. We have a great group of adults who help on Tues-days during the day and Wednesday evenings but could use a few more to complete our team. Please consider helping out with this ministry. If interested contact Martha Schmitt at 482-7041 or by email [email protected] Martha

We welcome into the Family of God:

Keeyan Lamar and Avin Rose Dortch, children of

Marsailles and Audrey (Sermersheim) Dortch.
