Instructor uses and sells Terial Magic spray-on stabilizer. Read through the pattern paying special attention to the directions for Machine Reverse Applique (page 4),

imagining yourself making the pattern.

Then read again following the directions for the sections on Fabric Selection and Preparation, beginning on page 1, Cutting,

if you are making the whole quilt, and then on page 4 under Machine Reverse Applique, Pattern Marking, steps 1

and 2.

A word about thread: Although I usually use a thread color that matches my top batik, you may want to use an accent color as a design choice. I use an assortment of threads for my machine reverse applique: Aurifil 40 wt., 50 wt.; Konfetti 40 wt.; Wonderfil 60 wt.; Floriani embroidery; Sulky; etc. It’s all a matter of the look you want and what your sewing machine can handle. In my original Twinkling Flurries Quilt VI I used Floriani Embroidery thread for the machine reverse applique and the quilting.

BRING TO CLASS (remaining items from your supply list) Pattern

1 – top batik square cut to 9” x 9”

1 – background batik square cut to 9” x 9”

1 – 8” x 8” square Soft Fuse or other double-sided, paper-backed iron-on fusible with Snowflake A traced on the paper side

1 Spool of thread for stitching (SAME COLOR as top batik), plus bobbins with matching thread

1 pair small, sharp scissors

Terial Magic or stabilizer of your choice ( 1 – 8” x 8” square; 1 – 8” x 11” rectangle)

Sewing Machine with zig-zag stitch(remember your power cord and foot pedal or knee lift), Open-toed sewing foot, 70 or 80 sewing machine needles (plus extras),

Iron, ironing board/ surface
