TWO OCTOBER MISSIONS 10,000 Meals – Next Wednesday, Oct. 26
Did you know that for the price of a single large Starbucks Latte, you can provide a hun-gry child with a meal every school day for over 3 weeks, encouraging their attendance
as well as meeting their nutritional needs? Since starting its meal-packing emphasis in 2005, Stop Hunger Now has packed over 252 MILLION meals and distributed them in 74 different countries. By partnering with agencies like schools, orphanages, and medical clinics, these meals be-come more than just a means to meet the nutritional needs of those dealing with poverty and hunger. They be-come an incentive for long term community development.
We’re going to pack over 10,000 meals for Stop Hunger Now next Wednesday night. We invite you to par-ticipate by giving (offsetting the $3000 cost of providing the materials) and volunteering (it will take 40 or more volunteers to help with the packing event). Mark your donations with “Stop Hunger Now” and then plan to join us (come and go as needed) beginning at 5:00 PM, on Wednesday. Come be a part of making a difference, one meal at a time.
Operation Christmas Child If you don't have time to shop, but want to participate in the Operation Christmas Child shoe box mission, just decide how many boxes you want to sponsor and donate about
$20+ each (mark your check or envelope with the memo "Shoebox"). We'll be glad to assemble the boxes for you and add them to the total.

Dear Friends,
This weekend will be a busy time for our church family.
On Saturday, October 22, our church is hosting a West Jack-
son District discipleship training event in the Sanctuary.
Members of churches from around the district will be gather-
ing together for this half-day of fellowship and mutual learn-
ing.
Also on Saturday, women of our church will be attending the
Propel Women’s Conference at the Mississippi Coliseum. In-
ternational speakers will inspire and challenge our women to
be leaders in whatever field God has sent them. This will be a
great time of worship, fellowship, and learning.
And, we have a special outing for our Dad’s and kids! At
11:00 a.m., we will gather for pizza and ice cream at Sal and
Mookie’s. This is simply a fun “daddy-day” out. The church
is picking up the tab so all you need to do is load up the van
and come!
One last thing, next Wednesday, October 26, will be our fi-
nal fall Wednesday Night gathering of the year. We will end
with a night of service as we pack 10,000 meals for Stop
Hunger Now. This feeding ministry works to provide emer-
gency sustenance to food-insecure places, as well as to de-
velop local communities’ abilities to eradicate hunger. We
will begin at 5:00 p.m., and work until we’re done! You can
also help financially by contributing toward our $3,000 goal.
Grace and Peace,
Ricky

CIRCLE 4 MEETING CHANGE FOR NOVEMBER As Circle 4 joins hands to check OCC shoeboxes and pack additional ones, the group will have a couple of changes for the next meeting. All boxes should be turned in by Sunday, November 6, so that the circle can have ample time to finish their work. Because Tuesday, 11/8, is Elec-tion Day, Circle 4 will meet on Monday, November 7, in-stead. The group will also move the 6:30 meeting to 6:00 to allow plenty of time for their tasks. All ladies are invited to help with the project, even if you have not been a part of this UMW group.

THRIFT SHOP UPDATE You will be pleased to know that your Thrift Shop Minis-try is continuing to grow! There are four things that con-tribute to the success of this ongoing mission. #1...The way that members and friends of St. Luke's donate such nice things for us to sell; #2...The customers who return every week and spread the word to their friends; #3...The group of dedicated volunteers who give their time to man the shop when it is open and unpack/clean/stock during the week; And last but not least; #4...David Armstrong, who is the security guard when the shop is open. He knows the customers very well and keeps everyone feel-ing secure with his presence. He helps customers carry out heavy loads and keeps an eye on everything that goes on in the shop and in the parking lot. In addition to these 4 factors, the Thrift Shop team knows that God is blessing us greatly so we can be a blessing to others. Thank you for helping to support your St. Luke's Thrift Shop Ministry.
