ABOUT FDP

The present FDP focuses on the advances in the field of materials and manufacturing. Mechanistic understanding from

any discipline is the routes to the development of materials with capabilities beyond those currently available. In the

present era, materials and manufacturing are the backbone of the economy of a nation. There is a strong motivation

for optimizing the design and manufacturing process using experiments with high precision equipment and

computational techniques for modelling the processes.

Next generation materials include super-light materials and active materials that react to changes in their environment

and ultimately smart materials that explain how they are doing. Advancement in health care, energy, computing and

numerous other fields depend on new findings in materials science. The basic objective of the Faculty development

program is to impart the latest and advanced inputs about material’s/composites and manufacturing techniques for the

faculty, scientists and research scholars of the engineering Institution/ University/R&D centres. This program has been

designed to provide the knowledge and work experience on processing, materials characterization of advanced

materials, composites, and recent trends in casting, welding, metal forming, micro/nano fabrication and finishing.

The objective is to focus on research and development and technological advancements beneficial in the field of Basic

Sciences, Nanotechnology, metallurgy and Mechanical Engineering. This forum would enhance the knowledge in the

field of Advanced Materials and manufacturing for Engineering Applications, beneficial for pursuing research required

for acquiring higher education and would also be resourceful in teaching learning process. This FDP is proposed to

generate and impart knowledge on the fabrication of recent advanced materials and composites. To provide the

knowledge about metallurgical characteristics, design, characterization of materials and composites using XRD, SEM

and mechanical & wear Testing. To provide the role of fabrication.
