TYPEHOLDERS
Linear TypeholdersThe linear typeholders are suitable formarking on flat surfaces using impact orsqueeze action, or for marking on roundcomponents using roller marking techniques. The typeholders are manufactured exactlyrectilinear and perfectly square, thus ensuringperfect alignment of the types to the part to bemarked. The following table shows the range of standardtypeholders available, as well as the number of linesand height of type that each one supports.
Automator International produces a vast range oftypeholders to hold the interchangeable types inwhatever order or arrangement is requiredto mark or stamp various different materials. The typeholders are available as follows:

Typeolder for Hot MarkingThe typeholders for hot marking of the series PCC aremanufactured from steel and brass. This creates the bestheat conductivity to the types during the markingprocess using the hot marking machines MB 20E andMB 21E.The two models of typeholder with overalldimensions of 65 and 80mm respectively, are suitablefor nearly every requirement, especially as the sloton the typeholders is adjustable allowing types ofdifferent sizes to be used as well as catering formultiple lines. The high degree of accuracy inmanufacture guarantees a perfect hotmark either with or without foil.
CircularTypeholders(on flat)The typeholders to mark ina circle on flat are made onrequest to meet specificcustomer requirements. The dimensions (diameter, character height, numberof characters etc.) alldepend upon the needs ofthe customer.
Rollers for Conical TypesThe roller typeholder RPC 101, for use with conical types, can
take either one or two lines of type and can be used either withour roller marking machines or for special purpose applicationsto mark flat or round components, but always employing theroller marking technique. This system is of particular use for marking fragilecomponents or very hard parts with all the force
concentrated on a single character.

Made using the latest production methods, theautomatic numbering heads mark sequentialnumbers and can supplied to index after eachstroke or after every 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5thstrokes (not changeable).
Manufactured to the highest standards usingspecially selected and vacuum hardened steel, the
numbering heads guarantee a clear mark in everydetail. The vigorous demands of ISO 9002
certification ensure that the centring of the character, the uniformity of size and the precision of the
engraving are all to the closesttolerances. The family of MB2 numbering heads contains more than200 varieties. An enormous number of different variationsis possible:combinations of automatic and non-automaticwheels (MB14); wheels with special signs such asletters, numbers, logos etc.; spacer wheels.
The character sizes available are: 1mm, 1.5mm, 2mm,2.5mm, 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, 6mm, 8mm and 10 mmwith standard, semi-narrow and narrow styles. Both lettersand numbers can be used. The semi-narrow and narrow styles have a narrower widthof character when compared to the standard style, thusproducing a shorter marking length

Manually adjustale numbering heads are used when the text to be markedhas to be changed very often. They do away with the need to remove a typeholder and change theindividual types. You merely manually index the individualwheels to the text you require.
These numbering heads are supplied in accordancewith the table on page 9 and can be fitted withanything from 2 to 20 wheels. The wheels with character sizes up to 5mmheight have 14 divisions. For example, you could have the numbers 0-9 as
well as 4 additional characters (either letters ornumbers) on each wheel. The alphabet is normally
divided A-M and N-Z, or you can choose anycombination of letters and numbersyou want. For character sizes of 6 mmand above the wheels only have 11divisions.This could be, for example, thenumbers 0-9 plus one additional engraveddivision. The character sizes available are: 1mm,1.5mm, 2mm, 2.5mm, 3mm, 4mm, 5mm,
6mm, 8mm and 10 mm with standard, semi-narrow and narrow styles.The semi-narrow
and narrow styles have a narrower width ofcharacter when compared to the standard style,
thus producing a shorter marking length - see tableon page 9 for details.

The numbering head MB5 is of sturdyconstruction, suitable for the marking of ferrous and
non-ferrous metals, plastic, wood etc.The individual wheels are turned by hand and then held in
position using the locking pin.The 11 division wheels includethe numbers 0-9 plus a blank. The standard tapped hole will
accept a hand-held spigot for hitting with a hammer or a machinespigot to enable the numbering head to be used with one of our
impact presses. The various models and character sizes are shown onthe table below.
