Catfish

Catfish are a diverse group of ray-finned fish. Named for their

prominent barbels, which resemble a cat's whiskers, catfish range in size and

behavior from the three largest species, the Mekong giant catfish

from Southeast Asia, the wels catfish of Eurasia and the Piraíba

of South America.

King Fish

The king mackerel or kingfish (Scomberomorus cavalla) is a

migratory species of mackerel of the western Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico. It is an important species to

both the commercial and recreational fishing industries.

Red Snapper

The northern red snapper is a species of snapper native to the western

Atlantic Ocean including the Gulf of Mexico, where it inhabits

environments associated with reefs. This species is commercially

important and is also sought-after as a game fish.

Salmon

Salmon is the common name for several species of ray-finned

fish in the family Salmonidae.Salmon are native

to tributaries of the North Atlantic and Pacific Ocean.

Salmon are intensively farmed in many parts of the world.

Tilapia

Tilapia is the common name for nearly a hundred species of cichlid fish from the tilapiine

cichlid tribe. Tilapia are mainly freshwater fish inhabiting

shallow streams, ponds, rivers and lakes and less commonly found living in brackish water.

Flat Fish Definition

Halibut

Halibut is a common name principally applied to the two flatfish in the

genus Hippoglossus from the family of right-eye flounders. Less

commonly, and in some regions only, other species of flatfish are also

referred to as being halibuts.

Dab

The common dab (Limanda limanda) is an edible flatfish of the family

Pleuronectidae. It is a demersal fish native to shallow seas around

Northern Europe, in particular the North Sea, where it lives on sandy

bottoms down to depths of about 100 metres.

Turbot

The turbot is a species of flatfish in the family

Scophthalmidae. It is a demersal fish native to marine or brackish waters of the North

Atlantic, Baltic Sea and the Mediterranean Sea.

Sole

Sole is a fish belonging to several families. Generally speaking, they are members of the family Soleidae, but, outside Europe, the name sole is also

applied to various other similar flatfish, especially other members of the sole suborder Soleoidei as well as

members of the flounder family.

Brill

The brill, Scophthalmus rhombus, is a species of flatfish in the turbot family of the order Pleuronectiformes. Brill can be found in the northeast Atlantic, Baltic Sea, and Mediterranean,

primarily in deeper offshore waters.

Mollusks Definition

Clams

It refers to one or more kinds of commonly consumed marine

bivalves, such as in the phrase clam chowder, which refers to

shellfish soup. Many edible clams are roughly oval-shaped or

triangular; however, razor clams have an elongated parallel-sided

shell, suggesting an old-fashioned straight razor.

Octopus

It has two eyes and four pairs of arms and, like other cephalopods, it is

bilaterally symmetric. It has a beak, with its mouth at the center point of

the arms. It has no internal or external skeleton allowing it to squeeze through tight places.

Octopuses are among the most intelligent and behaviorally diverse of

all invertebrates.

Oysters

Some kinds of oysters are commonly consumed by humans, cooked or raw, the latter being a delicacy. Some kinds of pearl oysters are

harvested for the pearl produced within the mantle. Windowpane oysters are harvested for their

translucent shells, which are used to make various kinds of decorative

objects.

Scallops

Scallop is a common name that is primarily applied to any one of

numerous species of saltwater clams or marine bivalve mollusks in the taxonomic family Pectinidae, the

scallops.

Squid

An elongated, fast-swimming cephalopod mollusk with ten arms

(technically, eight arms and two long tentacles),

typically able to change color.

Crustaceans Definition

Crab

Crabs are decapod crustaceans of the infraorder Brachyura, which typically have a very

short projecting "tail", usually entirely hidden under the

thorax.

Lobster

Lobsters comprise a family of large marine

crustaceans. They have long bodies with muscular tails, and live in crevices or burrows on the sea floor.

Cray Fish

Lobsters comprise a family of large marine

crustaceans. They have long bodies with muscular tails, and live in crevices or burrows on the sea floor.

Shrimp

A small free-swimming crustacean with an

elongated body, typically marine and frequently

harvested for food.

Scampi

Scampi includes various culinary preparations of certain

crustaceans, commonly Nephrops norvegicus, or a

similar lobster such as Metanephrops, as well as shrimp or prawns. Scampi

preparation styles vary regionally.
