The original Prince of Persia game
was sold on computer floppy disks.
Because floppy disks are so easily
copied, the game has a security
feature that requires a player to
consult the instruction booklet that
was packaged with the disks at
retail – something a counterfeit
copy wouldn’t have.
Each time you load a saved game
or the first time you finish a stage,
you will be taken to a room full of
potions. Each potion has one letter
of the alphabet on it. The game
prompts you to find a particular
word on a particular page in the
instruction manual, then drink the
potion bearing the first letter of that
word. If you get it right, the door in
the middle of the room will open
and you can continue your
game uninterrupted.
