All the 3 months of the quarter i.e July, Aug and Sept 2015 were very good months for Uganda Baati, as we deliv- ered record volumes in Aug 2015. Overall as a company we are doing well and are growing at a healthy rate. Except for the challenges in the currency depreciation, the performance of the com- pany has been good, both at the top line as well as at the operating margins level. This has been a very tough year for the industry with the econo- my not doing well. We hope the general business environment to improve post elections, and companies which do the basic right should do well as the economy and the currency posi- tion improves. Our performance on the export front has also improved significantly and con- gratulations to the export team. Would also like to congratulate the dealer team at Kampala and also the team at Arua for doing very well during the quarter. We have some new members in the Uganda Baati family and we welcome them and wish them the very best. Enjoy reading the newsletter which will highlight some important activities car- ried out by the company during the quarter. Our new website i.e www.ugandabaati.com is now up and running and hope you find it good. We would wel- come any feedback on the same. My Name is Nakagwe Gloria a female Ugandan 26 years of age. I was born on 28th April 1986 by Mr.Kulumba Bonny a Business Man and Mrs. Kulumba Norah. I come from a family of six and I am the second last born. My hobbies include cook-ing and baking, watching TV and movies, social networking and doing charitable works.

I attended Gayaza High School for my ‘O’ level, Naalya S.S.S, Namugongo Campus for my ‘A’ level and later perused a Bachelor’s Degree In Entrepre-neurship And Small Business Management at Mak-erere University Business School (MUBS).

After completing my studies in 2012, I got an oppor-tunity to work with Technoserve Uganda as Busi-ness Coach for the Women Mean Business Program (2012-2013). Alongside that, I had a small business of making samosas and pancakes. With my heart problem God blessed me with a son in June 2013. I still continued with my business.

HISTORY OF THE HEART PROBLEM

I had the heart problem since birth, 25 years ago. Some days after being born my mother noticed that I wasn’t breathing well. She took me to Mulago Hospital for a checkup and the doctors diagnosed with the heart condition called Ventricular Septial Defect (VSD) commonly known as “a hole in the heart”.

I was given treatment and stayed in hospital for some months. Later, I was discharged but had to go for reviews every month and had to take medicines every day. Ever since then I had to take medicines every day and also go for reviews every month. But as I was growing up, I never had any heart failures but minor discomforts like nose bleeding, fainting, constant headaches and general body weakness. All these could happen anytime anywhere.

I grew up as a normal kid but I was restricted to light activities only. Despite of my heart problem I was able to complete my education well and also demonstrated good leadership skills with active participation in clubs. Am so grateful for that.

On Wednesday 28th January, I underwent the open heart surgery which was successfully done and spear headed by Dr.Oketcho Michael. It has been nine months since the operation and I am doing well. The recovery process has been good with no difficulties. The Doctor also said that Heart is stable and well so I no longer need to take medicines or go for any reviews .My life is all better now and looking forward to a brighter future ahead of me.

I would like to thank Uganda Baati limited for the help you gave me towards the surgery, I am so happy and grateful for all your financial assistance and prayers.

Thanks so much for your kindness and generosity.

May God Bless You.Nakagwe Gloria

NAKAGWE GLORIA’S HEART RECOVERY

As per Environmental compliance, a NEMA Audit was successfully conducted. This is in addition to the various Permits and Licenses that have been issued.

We also conducted an Emergency mock drill which was aimed at improving our awareness towards emergency preparedness and response.

I therefore call on everyone to make safety at work a priority. This will enable us to achieve an injury free workplace, reduce lost time due to injuries and also improve productivity for all personnel.I wish everyone a very safe work-ing period during this remaining time of the year.

We take this opportunity to congratulate everyone on reach-ing this time of the year. I also urge that we all continue working safely as we strive for an injury free work-ing place.

Am happy to report that our posi-tive attitude towards safety has greatly improved. This has been noted in timely reporting of hazards and other health and safety issues. This is in addition to improved compliance to Personal Protective equipment (PPE) and overall reduction in accidents. We also completed revamping the Integrated Management system (IMS) which comprised of ISO 14001 (Environment) and ISO 9001 (Quality). An external Audit was also successfully conducted by NEMKO.

We kicked off the Inter depart-mental Football tournament - season II on 11th July 2015 which saw four teams from different departments play against each other. There are (6) six teams - home and away game rule and four teams will play semifinals.

The tournament has not only seen members compete, but also team building and improving fitness.

The most exciting moments are seeing our female participants dribbling the ball & tussling it out with the males so that their teams don’t lose any point.

As the season comes to an end, I wish to heartily thank all those that have been part of this and fully participated at the pitch in one way or another. Great thanks to management too, which has given

full support to the committee and the football fraternity in order to see this work out. We hope to join the corporate league come 2016!!!

A few matches left to see our winning team walk away with awards and medals for the play-ers. We look forward to more exciting activities & races on the grand finale!!!!!

JOKES HAHAHAH JOKESTwo factory workers are talking. The woman says, "I can make the boss give me the day off." The man replies, "And how would you do that?" The woman says, "Just wait and see." She then hangs upside down from the ceiling. The boss comes in and says, "What are you doing?" The woman replies, "I'm a light bulb." The boss then says, "You've been working so much that you've gone crazy. I think you need to take the day off." The man starts to follow her and the boss says, "Where are you going?" The man says, "I'm going home, too. I can't work in the dark."
