1 nothing, really. The event did not provide the content I was seeking. 4/15/2014 11:41 AM
2 Reinforcement of our initial diversity search plans. 4/15/2014 10:02 AM
3 Discussion with other female faculty members in CEAS 4/14/2014 7:37 PM
4 Interacting with a couple faculty who I had never spoken with before, on some common interests. 4/14/2014 4:07 PM
5 Conversation with Dr. Halpern 4/14/2014 12:34 PM
6 Learning latest research on women in academe 4/14/2014 12:16 PM
7 good exposure to the challlenges and problems facing underrepresented groups in STEM 4/14/2014 11:13 AM
8 meeting a few other faculty with overlapping interests 4/14/2014 11:08 AM
9 The data and trends she presented 4/14/2014 10:42 AM
10 Bringing the issue to a broad audience 4/14/2014 10:41 AM
11 The morning meeting was very good, and opened my eyes to institutional changes that are needed (e.g., to RPT,to the way that the University judges the "success" of a Ph.D. program and its graduates).
4/14/2014 10:39 AM
12 Meeting other STEM faculty 4/14/2014 10:30 AM
13 Learned about serious problems in College of Medicine regarding promotions and other professionaldevelopment issues.

Q7 How can the LEAF program better serveyou and your colleagues?
Answered: 14 Skipped: 0

2 I would certainly appreciate a reminder to the speakers to focus on success strategies rather than problemidentification. Right now, it seems they are focused about 95/5% and I would certainly like to get some goodideas from them. I would suggest 20/80% but would be pleased even if it were 80/20%.
4/15/2014 10:02 AM
3 I'm not sure 4/14/2014 7:37 PM
4 No suggestions 4/14/2014 4:07 PM
5 Focus on sustainalbe policy changes imagined with a doable timeline. 4/14/2014 12:34 PM
6 Attract broader participation 4/14/2014 12:16 PM
7 Need more focus on viable solutions. Too much discussion on the problem with very little on what can be done tofix it.
4/14/2014 11:13 AM
8 I'm not sure - it seems like the initiatives are generally pretty successful 4/14/2014 11:08 AM
9 Continue what they are doing 4/14/2014 10:42 AM
10 Avoid dichotomizations of male vs female without investigaing role of race, ethnicity, and resource access thatnuance these differences. I thought it somewhat ironic that the person who apparently critiqued the "Bell Curve"or the fallacous and simplistic divisioning between African Americans and Whites would distill the complexities ofvery real gender inequities in a not dissimilar manner. There is no doubt about resource access limitations forwomen as opposed to the privileging of men, but surely there are more complex thinkers around attempting toaddress these complexities. This might be addressed better when welling up from the disciplines of sociology oranthropology.
4/14/2014 10:41 AM
11 Might be a good idea to have a more extensive survey, or at least provide an enhanced opportunity to send infeedback. I had very different feelings about the morning discussion as opposed to the afternoon presentation, but this form doesn't provide an opportunity for substantive feedback.
4/14/2014 10:39 AM
12 Offer more action items with discussions 4/14/2014 10:30 AM
13 Can you convince Dr. Ono that morale is terrible in the College of Medicine and something must be done beforeall of our best faculty leave.
4/14/2014 10:27 AM
14 foster open discussion of the important of issues of gender and diversity on the faculty 4/14/2014 10:27 AM

1 As the graduate director in my program, it was especially useful to learn about the concerns of some of ourwomen graduate students.

2 I am very happy this event took place. I was one of the sociology faculty members to attend. The grad studentsasked questions about work/family, gender at work, etc. It felt like a conversation that we should have alreadyhad, but hadn't. Thanks!
